C Foster and Harvey Foster were visitors in Char lotte, N. C., Monday and attended the funeral of Mrs. John Foster. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Snelgrove and girls spent the week-end in Saluda with Mr. and Mrs. S. B .Snelgrove. On Sunday they visited Ruble Strange, who is a patient in a Colum bia hospital. Sgt. Junior Girls Sponsor Entertainment On next Friday evening, Feb. 23, at 7:30 o'clock in Jhe auditorium of Academy Street school an entertain ment will be given sponsored by the Junior Missionary society of Bailey Memorial church. This entertainment will include a Negro play, entitled, “Uncle Eph’s Return,” presented by the girls of the society. A Negro sermon delivered by Mrs. lone Wallace, conununity worker at Lydia Mills; a Negro dia logue presented by two girls; music furnished by a rythm quartet and other very interesting features. At the dose of the program a watch will be given to the one hold ing the lucky number and is now on display in the window of J. C. Thom as, Jeweler. Tickets for the enter tainment can be bought at this store and may also be secured at the door Friday evening. Prices will be: adults 50c and children 15c. The entertainment is being pre sented for the purpose of adding to a fund to secure a carpet for the audi torium of the church. With The Sick Mrs. Harry Foster has been ill with flu. Ficklin an nounce the birth of a son, Charles Thomas, February 15 at the Blalock clinic. Mrs. Ficklin is the former Miss Erline Meadors of this city. Surprise Birthday Party Mrs. S. C. Foster was honored with a surprise birthday party Friday night at the community house. A musical program was enjoyed during the evening. Each guest remembered her with a gift. Refreshments consisting of a salad course, pimento cheese sandwiches, potato chips, cake squares and hot coffee were served. Mrs. Ella Harvey and Mrs. Hous ton Trammell assisted Mrs. Richard Watts during the evening. Alexander-Deder Miss Beatrice Alexander became the bride of Duke Deder Sunday, February 18 in a wedding held af ter church services at the Church of God on Elizabeth Street. The Rev. J. P.
