Luke Chaney and his orchestra furnished music for the occasion and at ten o’clock a turkey supper was served by Cecil P. Wilson. Scouts on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. H. L. Eichelberg- er. About twenty-five cubs were en tertained at the log cabin which was gaily decorated with a large Santa face, stockings, pop corn balls wrapped in colored cellophane and Christmas candies which were later! given the boys. Refreshments were served and each child received a gift from another cub. Games were played and recordings of carols were enjoyed. Den mothers are, Mrs. Eichel- berger, Mrs. Thomas Jacobs and Mrs. Grady Chandler. Also helping were Mrs. S. P. Babb and Mrs. W. A. Sherratt, assistant den mothers. f: Miss Garrison Is Honored Honoring Miss Clelia Garrison, Kenneth and Bill Haselden enter tained about twenty-five young people on Tuesday evening at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Haselden. Miss Garrison, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. E. K. Garrison, who have recently moved here, is a student at the Woman’s college of N. C., Greensboro. Silvered sprays of cottonwood trees and burrs with magnolia leaves adorned the mantel while Santa scenes, tall red tapers and Christmas wreaths added to the Yuletide setting. The supper table was prettily ap pointed with a centerpiece of ev ergreens and nandina berries on a home in Kinards. For the occasion wreaths and gar lands of evergreen and many burn ing tapers adorned the Brocken brough home to carry out the holi day motif. Supper was served in buffet style and later a number of games were silver container. Each guest receiv- en j°y e d- ed a gift from the beautifully dec orated tree. De corations for the occasion were in the holiday motif. Joint Hostesses For Buffet Supper Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Taylor, Jr., Mr .and Mrs. D. L. Ridings enter tained with a buffet supper on Sat urday evening assembling about fifteen guests at the home of the former. The centerpiece for the dining table was fashioned of pine, berries, and Santa Claus figures flanked by tall tapers. The menu effectively carried out the Christmas motif, in red and green. Elsewhere were mis- eltoe and silver and red magnolia leaves. Mrs. Owens Hostess To Wednesday Club Mrs. R. S. Owens entertained the Wednesday Study club recently at her home on Maple street for the December meeting. Continuing a study of the Uni versities of the World, Mrs. Robert E. Wysor, Jr., discussed the Uni versity of Cairo. Later in the afternoon refresh ments were served. The Christmas motif was attractively carried out in the decorations and refresh ments. Dinner Party For Young Set Miss Sara Blakely was hostess on at the home of her mother, Mrs. Tuesday evening for a dinner party J. B. Speake in Kinards. Traditional holiday adornment featuring greenery and red tapers made a pretty background for the party. Covers were laid for twelve and a three course dinner served by candlelight. Mrs. Pitts Honors Friends With Dinner On Tuesday evening Mrs. Roy Pitts entertained with a dinner at her home on Florida street. Throughout the home the Christ mas motif was carried out in the flower arrangements and other de corations. Those enjoying the occasion were Rev. and Mrs. John H. A turkey dinner was served and later gifts from the tree were distributed. Milam and children, Mrs. Sara Bell Davidson, Mrs. Lula Wier, Mrs. John Copeland, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Gillette Simp son, Mr. and Mrs. Tan M. Ray and son, Ike. Methodist Class Has Christmas Party Members of the primary depart ment of Broad Street Methodist church were entertained on last Wednesday with a party in the social rooms of the church. The teachers, Mrs. Sterlin Pittts, Jr., Mrs. W .C. Milam and Miss Ma ry Frances Pinson who were joined by the pastor, Rev. E. K. Garrison, lead the little folk in singing and playing appropriate games. Ice cream and cookies were served and later the group exchanged gifts. Each child was also remembered by its teacher with a gift. T ribble-Wills Announcement Mr. and Mrs. Warren Blakely Tribble of this city, • announce the engagement of their daughter, Bet ty, to Lester Edward Wills, Jr. of Spartanburg. Miss Tribble is a graduate of Erskine college and is now on the news staff of The Spartanburg Herald. Mr. Wills, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester E. Wills of Meridian, Miss., is a graduate of University of Chi cago. He also is a member of The Spartanburg Herald News staff. The wedding will take place in the spring. About forty guests enjoyed the evening including several out of town guests, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Ellis and family of Greenville, Miss Margaret Bell of Staunton, Va., Bre- wer Dixon, Brewer Dixon, Jr., Bail ey Dixon and Kelly Dixon all of Talladega, Ala. Guests from here were Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Austin, Mrs. Bessie E. Godfrey, Mr. and Mrs. Ansel B. Godfrey; also Mr .and Mrs. Cal houn Gault of North Augusta. Christmas Dinner For College Students Among lovely social occasions of the Christmas season was the pro gressive dinner party given on last Thursday evening honoring the col lege students of the First Presbyter ian church, home for the holidays. When the young people had as sembled at the church they went to the country home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomwell Dunlap where to mato juice cocktail and hors’ d'oev- re were served. They returned for a salad course at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Harris. For the main course they went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Owens, Mrs. Owens was assisted by Mrs. Henry Young, Sr., Mrs. Henry Bur ton, Mrs. John W. Harris, Mrs. Lay- ton Fraser as hostesses. The group of about 25 returned to the church for dessert and later games were enjoyed. Festive decorations featuring de corated and lighted trees, wreaths, evergreen garlands, holly and tall burning tapers beautifully adorned the homes and the social rooms of the church for the unique party.
