Provided that upon com pletion of the sales the amount deposited as security stall be applied by the Town Clerk in the payment of the license and any bal ance then remaining shall be refunded to the license. Provided, that if such ap praisal shall not reduce the amount of deposit required, the xcise thereof shall be paid by the licensee in addi tion to the license: but if re duced. it shall be paid by the Town. Provided, further that if at any time during the sale, the gross amount of sales shall reach an amount that will require a license here under in excess of the amount deposited as security for the license, it shall be the duty of the licensee and all agents and employees thereof to report such fact forthwith to the Town Clerk and to make a new dep>osit, and a failure to do so shall constitute a violation of the ordinance, and the license previously issued shall be revoked automatically with out any action or notice from any officer or agent of the Town, and the offender or offenders shall suffer the penalties provided in this ordinance for violation thereof: and the Town Clerk or Chief of Police, or other officer or agent of the Town i shall have the right to all times to make an investiga tion of the business of the license to determine the facts with reference to the license and shall have the right to require sworn state ments from the licensee and to an matter relating to his * employees or agents as the provisions of this ordinance and any license or any agent or employee of such licensee who shall fail to furnish any such informa tion or to give any sworn 'Sateroent upon proper re quest or who shall make a false statement with refer ence thereto shall be a vio lation of this ordinance and the ^offender or offenders shall suffer the penalties provided for those who do business in the Town with out a license, or violate the terms of this ordinance. Provided, further, that it shall be unlawful and a vio lation of this ordinance for any person, firm or corpor ation to add to any stock bought at sales under bank ruptcy assignment for ben efit of creditors, salvage stock damaged by fire, water or otherwise, or any stock bought for the purpose of selling out or liquidating the same, and each addition to such stock shall constitute a separate violation of this or dinance, and in addition to the punishment herein pro vided the license shall be immediately revoked. This ap plies to each and every un derwriters association or agency, whether license is paid by parent company or not. INSURANCE (LIFE) — Each life insurance company having gross premiuih in come of not more than # $500.00, per year 15.00 Having gross premium in-» come of more than $500.00 and not more than $5,000.00, per year 40.00 Having gross premium in come of more than $5,000.00 and not more than $10,000.00 per year 60.00 Having gross premium in come of more than $10,000.- 00, per year 75.00 (This section shall apply only to premiums collected or renewed on the lives of persons residing within the town limits of the Town of Clinton). LUNCH COUNTERS, per year 15.00 LAWYERS— Lawyers, whose gross an nual income does not exceed $2,500.00, per year 15.00 and $.50 for each additional $1,000.00 of gross income. M MACHINES, COIN— That every person, firm or corporation owning or main taining any place of busi ness, or other place, where in or in connection with which is operated any ma chine for the playing of mu sic operated by a slot where in is deposited any coin or thing of value, shall pay the following license on each machine in operation. Where the coin is a nickel or larger denomination, per year 10.00 Where coins used are pen nies, per year 5.00 Upon application being made for a license to oper ate any machine under this ordinance, the Town of Clin ton is hereby authorized to presume the operation of such machine or apparatus is lawful, and when a license has been issued for the op eration thereof, the sum ' paid for such license shall not be refunded notwith standing that the operation of such machine or appara tus shall be prohibited. It shall be the duty of the persons in whose places of business the machines are operated or located, to see that the proper Town license is attached to the machine before its operation is com menced. Failure to do so will make such persons lia ble for the penalties imposed in this ordinance. No machine shall be li censed under this ordinance unless such machine shall bear a permanently attached identifying serial number, and in making application for license under this sub- - section, the applicant shall specify the manufacturer’s serial number of the ma chine for which license is desired. The license shall carry the serial number of the machine and no license shall be transferrable. MACHINE SHOPS AND FOUNDRIES— Machine Shops and Foun dries, whose gross annual income does not exceed $2,000.00, per year 15.00 and $.50 for each additional $1,000.00 of gross income. MANUFACTURING PLANTS AND FACTOCtlifi— Manufacturing Plants and Factories not specifically classified elsewhere herein whose gross annual sales of manufactured products do not exceed $100^)00.00, per year 50.00 and $.50 for each additional $1,000.00 of gross sales of manufactured products over $100,000.00. The basis for ascertaining the amount of License Tax due shall be die gross amount of all sales for the preceding year beginning January 1, 1049, and ending December 31, 1949. MERRY-GO-ROUNDS— Per week .— 25.00 MERCHANTS— Retail Merchants and all persons, firms, or corpor ations selling at retail at an established place of business articles of trade or merchan dise for which a special li cense is not required, whose gross annual sales do not exceed $25,000.00, per year 25.00 and $.50 for each additional $1,000.00 of gross income. Wholesale Merchants and Wholesale Dealers in hay, grain, provisions, goods, ‘ wares, or merchandise, who ; carry a stock of goods with in a warehouse or storeroom whose gross annual sales do not exceed $25,000.00, per year 25.00 and $.50 for each additional $1,000.00 of gross sales. The basis for ascertaining the amount due shall be the gross amount of all sales (cash or credit) for the pre ceding year, beginning Jan uary 1, 1950, and ending December 31, 1950. MACHINE SELLERS AND VENDERS— Machine Sellers and Vend ers whose gross annual income does not exceed $1,000.00, per year 20.00 and $.50 for each additional $1,000.00 of gross income. Whose gross daily income does not exceed $100.00, per day 1.00 and $.50 for each additional $100.00 of gross income*. MARBLE YARDS OR AGENCIES— Marble Yards or Agencies, whose gross annual income does not exceed $1,000.00, per year - 10.00 MECHANICS— Mechanics working on auto mobiles, or doing other me chanical work for hire, who do not maintain a regular place of business, per year .. 15.00 MOTION PICTURE THEATRES— Motion Picture Theatres or houses whose gross annual income does not exceed $10,000.00, per year 75.00 and $.50 for each additional $1,000.00 of gross income.
