Murph at Baxley, Ga., Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Alton Murphy and children, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Murphy and family, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Murphy and -family of this community. They were accom panied by Mr. and Mrs. Junior Thompson and son of Lydia, and Mr. and Mrs. Belton Huckatoee and family of Whitmire. Linder at Start- ex Monday. WMS Enjoys Christmas Party The Woman’s Missionary Society met Friday evening in the community house for their annual Christmas dinner. The ladies who had invited their husbands, were invited into the din ing room where a bountiful turkey dinner was served. Mrs. R. B. Am- ick, president, gave the welcome ad-, dress with L. H. Bagwell giving the response. Rev. J. W. Spillers re turned thanks. Later in the evening the guests gathered in the living room where a number of games were enjoyed, di- reoted by Mrs. Eva Land. Mrs. Am ide was presented a gift from the so ciety by Mrs. Grady Smith in appre ciation for services rendered th*» past year. Instead of exchanging gifts the members brought a love ofifering for Rev. and Mrs. J. O. Watson, mission aries. Bailey Memorial Southern Methodist Church Notes Friday evening, December 15, com mencing at 8 o’clock Bailey Mem orial Epworth League will be host to District No. 4 Epworth League rally comprising all leagues in the South ern Methodist dehomination north of Columbia and including Columbia. A crowd of from 150 to 200 leaguers from out of town is expected. The league will furnish the programs, and the ladies of the church will as sist in serving refreshments in the dining room at the close of the pro gram. The church is busy getting ready for Christmas. On Saturday evening. December 23, commencing at 7:30 the different departments of the Sunday school will render a miscellaneous Christmas program. Sunday morning, December 24, the annual Christmas worship service will be held, with songs, scripture readings, special music and a sermon. At this time the Christinas banks which have been placed in the homes of members in Which an offering is being placed daily will be opened and given as the special Christmas offering. On Sunday evening, December 24, at 6:30 a Christmas candle lighting service will be rendered.
