The vice-pres ident, Mrs. Frank Miller presided over the business session. Mrs. William P. Jacobs, delegate to the Woman’s Training confer ence held recently in Montreat, gave an interesting account of the meeting. The Bible study on great pray ers of the Bible was given by Mrs. H. L. Baldwin. The meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. Hugh Jacobs. Baptist Women Hear Missionary To Africa Mrs. Farrell Runyan, the former Miss Elizabeth Barnett, who spent three years with her husband, the Rev. Mr. Runyan, in Nigeria, West Africa as missionaries, was the guest speaker for the regular month ly meeting of the Woman’s Mission ary Society at the First Baptist church, on Monday afternoon. Mrs. Runyan spoKe interestingly of the work there and displayed a number of curios of that country. ^The Runyans will sail for the re turn trip to Africa August 16. A business session was conducted i by the vice-president, Mrs. Joe W. Leake and the meeting closed with prayer by Mrs. J. H. Darr. Later the sunbeam group was in vited to see the curios. man was Pfc. Robert Taylor. Out of town guests were Mrs. Lillie Bolt, mother of the groom, of this city, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bolt of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Wednesday Club Has Dessert Bridge A dessert bridge was given last week by Mrs. William P. Jacobs, III, for members of the Wednesday club. Lovely bowls of roses, gladioli and zinnias were used as a back ground for two tables. A sweet course was served before the games. Top score honor went to Mrs. Rob ert Black. used at the entrance and arrange ments of gladioli and shasta daisies placed throughout the home. Cola drinks were served the guests upon arrival and later tables were arranged for bridge. When scores were tallied prizes went to Mrs. Chris Adair, Sr., and Miss Myra Adair, mother and sister of the •groom-elect, of this city. I Miss Margaret Ameen won the bingo prize. Following the games a three course luncheon was served. The bride-elect wore a corsage of pink rosebuds and she was pre sented a gift of crystal in her chosen pattern. «• Emery-Bolt ' Rites In Colorado The marriage bf Pvt. Priscilla Ann Emery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Emery of Escondido, Cal., and Pfc. Leroy (Red) Bolt, son of Mrs. Lillie Bolt of Clinton, was solem nized at Fitzimmons General hospital . in Denver Colorado, in the post chap el June 30, at 7 p m. Methodist Chaplain M. Boucher performed the ceremony. The bride was given in * marriage by Lloyd Ellis. The bride wore a single orchid on her dress uniform and the maid of honor, Sgt. Harriet J. Stone, wore a corsage of Turks Cap lilies. The best Bridge Party Given For Recent Bride Entertaining for Mrs. Reece H. Young, a bride of recent date, Mrs. L. B. Dillard assembled guests for four tables on Friday afternoon. The card rooms were beautifully appointed in a pink motif, the flor al arrangement being fashioned of prennial phlox and snap dragons. The guest of honor was presented by the hostess with a gift of silver. High score award went to Mrs. Mi- Ichael Turner and floating prize to | Mrs. Robert M. Vance. When cards were laid aside a tempting refreshment course car- ,rying out the chosen party color note was served. i Assisting the hostess in the cour tesies of entertaining were Mrs. M. J. McFadden, Mrs. N. Reece Young, Mrs. Ayliffe R. Jacobs and Miss Katherine Dicus. Miss Ferguson Honored At ~ ' Bridge Luncheon Miss Ruth Ferguson and Mrs. Mary Cummings entertained at a bridge luncheon Tuesday at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Ferguson in Great Falls, honoring their sister, Miss Rachel Ferguson, who will be married to Chris Adair, Jr., of Great Falls and Clinton on jJuly 22. The home was attractively deco rated in the green and white motif with a large basket of white gladioli Tea In Johnston Fetes Miss Copeland Honoring Miss Jean. Copeland of Renno, August bride-elect, a lovely tea was given Saturday in John ston by Mrs. Ervin Smith and Miss Jean Smith. About three hundred and fifty guests including a number of Clin ton relatives and friends were in vited for the delightful afternoon affair. In the receiving line in addition to the hostesses and bride-elect were her mother, Mrs. J. David Copeland, Mrs. James Lagrone of Johnston, a recent bride, and five of the bridesmaids, Miss Allene Copeland, Mrs. Harry Baldwin of this city, Miss Shirley Ranton, Miss Annie Maxwell Halford and Miss Betty Jenkins of Johnston. ; In the reception hall floral ar rangements were in yellow while pink and white gladioli effectively decorated the living room. 1 A white and green bridal theme was used in the dining room with a bouquet of asters. Complimented by white lighted tapers adorning the exquis- etely appointed tea table. Block cream, decorated cakes and mints in the chosen motif were served in the dining room and punch was ser ved on the porches. Among guests attending were the bride-elect’s grandmother, Mrs. B. F.
