Jackson of Spartanburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Milton King and children of Green ville. Mrs. Rose Meeks of Ninety-Six, visited Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Meeks over the week-end. Mrs. Ada Prince and daughters and Mrs. J. T. Lanford attended the funeral of the former’s sister-in-law, Mrs. Mollie Parrish, in Inman, Sun day. Mrs. Clara Smith has returned home after spending two weeks in Chester with her sons, Law'son and Henry Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Grange Chumbley had as their guests Sunday Mr .and Mrs. Hooper Matthews of Kinards. Mrs. Bessie Whitmire was the week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs. Will Ellis. On Sunday Mrs. Ellis, Mrs. Whitmire and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ellis and children visited Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Manley in Piedmont. Mrs. Gayle Ellis and son of Fay etteville, N. C., have returned home after spending the week with Mr. and Mrs. Will Ellis. Leroy Pace is a patient at Hays hospital. Sam McPeters of Columbus, Ga., was the week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Edmonds. . Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Burk- halter and daughter have returned home after spending a few weeks in Hattiesburg, Miss., with Mr. Burk- halter’s parents. Birthday Party for Linda Satterfield Mrs. Mart Satterfield entertained 15 little friends of her daughter, Linda, in celebration of the latter’s birthday Friday afternoon. Outdoor games were enjoyed dur ing the afternoon. The guests were served ice cram and cookies on the lawn while the gifts were opened. Mrs. Satterfield was assisted in erv- > tertaining and serving by Mrs. Mel vin Satterfield. Balloons in a variety of colors and bubble gum were given as favors. Sunday School Class Has Party The guests were invited into the dining room where a three-course luncheon was served. The guest speaker was Rev. P. L. The South Carolina Recreation Society’s first annual girls play day will be held at Edmunds high school athletic field and gymnasium. The program proper will begin at 10 a.m. and will be divided into two groups,' juniors, 16 and under, midgets, 13 and under. Interesting events will be dodge ball, softball, kickball, vol- * leyball, Newcomb ball, relays, folk dancing and swimming. Club 16 is sponsoring the group and they will be accompanied by f Mrs. Ruth Harbin and Mrs. Wallace. Kindergarten for Utile Falk The Kindergarten rooms have been remodeled and new equipment has been installed. It is open from 9 am. to 11:30 am. with thirty-two pupils attending. Plans are being made to organize the Kindergarten Mothers club Thursday, Oct. 4. Games and contests were enjoyed by the 25 guests present. Later the group was invited into the ,dining i room where refreshments w'ere serv ed. Mrs. Prather was assisted in enter taining and serving by Mrs. John Gallman, Miss Ernestine Parrish and Claudine Howell. Mason and Family. ! i'i Well-Baby Clinic Held The regular Well-Baby clinic with the county health department in charge was held at the clinic Tuesday. It was well attended. Banquet For Ball Team On Tuesday night the members of Club 16 were hostesses to a group of friends at a banquet served in the lunch room of Providence school. The occasion honored the Lydia Lions and their manager, Will Hampton. • ; The tables were most atractive £ with low arrangements of dahlias, \\ roses and nasturtiums. Crepe paper I ft streamers festooned the columns and j-[ came together with large paper bows. The place cards were miniature bas kets with fluted cellophane and pas tel ribbons held in place with small horseshoes denoting “good wishes,” for the women and miniature ball players complete with bat, stood on a baseball card, for the men. A three-course dinner was served by members of the club under the direction of the club president, Mrs. Ruth Harbin, and the program direc tor, Mrs. Daisy Hairston. Appropri ate games, songs and stunts were led by Mrs. Wallace. Later in the evening square danc ing was enjoyed with Grady Arnold as caller. The music was furnished by the Rythm Quintet.
