Friends Give Luncheon
For Miss Fitts

last Wednesday at Hotel Clinton
Coffee Shoppe. Hostesses were her
co-workers at the Clinton Cotton
Mills office.
Asters in a low crystal bowl cen
tered the table where covers were
laid for 10 and a bouquet .of red
roses designated the brido-eloct's
place. The honoree’s mother, Mrs.
W. R. Pitts was a special guest.
As a remembrance of the occasion

A lovely dinner party was given
on Thursday evening for Miss Fay
Pitts, October hride-elect. by Mrs.
Nene D Workman, at the R. G
Murphy home.
Roses, dahlias and, zinnias were
prettily arranged in the reception
hall and living room. Covers were
laid for eight and a delightful four-
course dinner was served. As a
centerpiece for the table nosegays
for the guests were arranged on
an inverted erystaj cake plate with
a corsage of roses showered with
tube rosgp and rosebuds, at the
top for the bride. This arrange
ment was placed on a reflector ed

Miss Betty Jo Ficklin and Walter
C. Barker were quietly united in
marriage August 2 at the home of
the officiating minister the Rev.
J. W. Spillers, pastor of Calvary-
Baptist church.
The bride was becomingly at-,
tired in a grey gabardine suit with
white accessories.
Upon their return from a wed
ding trip Mr. and Mrs. Barker are
residing in an apartment at 204
South Broad Street.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. J. M. Ficklin of Mount-
ville and attended the Clinton and
Mountville schools.
The groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. A A. Barker of this city and
is employed tty the Clinton Cotton
Mills company.

fern.
Assisting the hostesses were their
mothers. Mrs. S. G. Dillard and
Mrs. Wilson Harris and Mrs. Roy
Pitts, and Mrp. R. E. Sadler.
Miss Pitts was given a piece of

iture bouquet of roses and tuberoses.

of the evening’s program which in
cluded the installation of officers
elected in May, a business session,
and a memorial service for a de
ceased member, Mrs. J. Will Cope

bute to Mrs. Copeland and lighted
white candles in a beautiful ar
rangement of lilac and white glad
