Columbia, April 12.—The house of representatives last week killed on! roll call votes, bills that would have! prohibited the sale and circulation! in South Carolina of publications ad- ' vertising alcoholic.liquors and would* have raised the salary of members! of the genera! assembly from $1,000 to S2.400. The bill to prohibit the circulation; of publications’ advertising liquors, 1 which was introduced by Rep. Floyd Wright of Anderson county, iwas killed by a 71 to 35 roll call vote, with Laurens county Representative C. B. Culbertson voting with the ma jority to kill tne measure, while Rep resentatives C. L. Milam and Robert C. Wasson voted with the minority favorfhg the measure. The roil call killing the bill which, would have rai>ed the pay of legis lators reversed a previous roll call; vote, on which the house voted 50 to 49 against “continuing" the meas ure. On the final roll call, which, killed the bill by a 54 to 38 vote, Repreesntatives Milam and Wasson voted with the biajonty against the! measure, while Representative Cul- oertson was not recorded as voting.; The bill was introduced by Repre sentative John Bolt Culbertson of Greenville county.
