> \ Thursday, Pecember 30, 1948 THE CLINTON CHRONICLE Page Five County Motorists Paid $2,000 In Fines Last Month Columbia, Dec. 29. — (Special to The Chronicle). —The state highway patrol has reported a total of $2,000 in fines imposed on Laurens county motorists during the month of No vember, according to a statement from the South Carolina highway department. This- brings the amount collected in fines in Laurens county since the beginning of the 1948-49 fiscal year to $7,222. All fines imposed through the ac tion of the highway patrol are re tained by the county. The statewide total of fines impos ed since July first is $355,371. Of this amount, $76,305 was taken in during November, slightly more than the $74,079 in fines imposesd during Oc tober. The November fines imposed in , Laurens county showed an increase j from the $1,144 imposed in fines dur- ihg the month oif October. , Dance At Armory Saturday Night —«— There will be a New Year’s dance at the armory Saturday night, Janu ary 1, beginning at 8:30 o’clock. There will be an all new band for the fiance, state local American Le gion representatives, sponsors of the affair. The regular square dances on Saturday nights at the armory will continue.
