TELEPHONE 74 or 156-W Gibson-Hornowski Engagement (Mir. and Mrs. J. W. Gibson, of Swananoa, N. C., have annuonced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Alice Grbson, to Dr. M. J. Hor- nowski, of Jamaica, New York, son of Mrs. Louis Hornowski, and the late Mr. Hornowski. Dr. Hornowski is at present stationed at Moore General hospital. Miss Gibson’s mother is the for mer Miss Vivian Buchanart, of this city, and they have many relatives and friends here who will be inter ested in the announcement of her ap proaching marriage. Study Club Meets With Mrs. Wysor ' Last week Mrs. Robert Wysor en tertained -the Wednesday Study club at her home on Maple street. Flowering quince, evergreens and bright berries were attractive in the Wysor home. A log fire added a cheerful atmosphere. ^ Program leader for the afternoon was Mrs. J. B. Hart who discussed* Paul Green, of North Carolina, fa mous author and playwright, and read one of his short stories, “Salva tion On a String.” Later, sandwiches, coffee and cakes were served. — Pinson-Brodie Engagement Mr. and Mrs. Calhoun Pinson of Cross Hill, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Lucia Faye, and Willard Oswald Brodie, Jf., of Orangeburg. The wedding will take place February 24. , ~ ~ ' — * Wednesday Club Meets With Mrs. McSween Mrs. Harry McSween was hostess to members of the Wednesday bridge club last week for a dessert bridge. A sweet. course, coffee and nuts were served before the games. Two including important personalities and advertisements were enjoyed. In contests Mrs. W. G. King, Jr., and Miss Katherine JymTq'ons were prize winners for the ladies and were presented ear rings, and Fred Oxley and Hugh Jacobs, prize, winners for the, men, were given ashtrays.
