M. S. of Lydia Baptist church met Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Posey Davis. The president called the meeting to order. Mrs. C. R. Kuykendall had charge of the program. Mrs. J. H. Walker led in prayer, and Mrs. Clyde Tram mell gave the devotional. Several other members took part on the pro gram, after which Mrs. Trammell, president, presided over the busi ness session. Roll call and minutes were given by Mrs. Davis, secretary. Mrs. Walker gave a report of Wed nesday’s meeting of the state W. M. U. convention. The meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. Tram- rneB, after which the hostess served refreshmenta.— Lawrence F. Rice Funeral services for Lawrence F. Rice, 49, were held Saturday af ternoon at S^Q-^’cfock at the Lydia Baptist church of which he was a member. Rev. J. H. Walker con ducted the services. Interment fol lowed at Mt. Pleasant cemetetry near Waterloo. Mr. Rice dTed suddenly at his home Thursday ' afternoon; He was a na tive of Tennesse, but had made his home here -for seven years. He was twice married. His first marriage was to Miss Minnie Turner. By this union one daughter survives, Mrs. Ethel Gambrel! of Watertop.
