ROBERT H. HARPER I THE WAY OF LOVE Lesson for November 23: I John 2:7-11, 15-17; 3:3-18. Memory Selection: I Corinthians 14:1. The lesson may be considered in i a series of contrasts between those ^ who love and those who hate. The | man who hates his brother is in darkness; he who loves abides in the! light. The love of the evil of the| ‘.world is enmity toward God; he who' l loves God overcomes the world and its lusts. Whosoever hates his broth-, er is a murderer; he who loves God 1 is ready to serve. j , To love is an old commandment, ian<J was in John’s time, because, ; Jesus gave it. It may become new , to those who learn its meaning in 1 their hearts through faith in Jesus, j j Love distinguished the early dis-i ciples—.their pagan neighbors were] wont to exclaim, perhaps in wonder • and maybe in scorn: “Behold how these Christians love one another!” Love brings an assurance of a man’s acceptance with God. He may know that he has passed from death unto life because he loves the brethren.) And to this assurance may be added the witness of the Christ who loved ihim even unto death, ^nd no. man 'can love God and be callous to the needs of men around him. I This old lesson of love is quite ap plicable today—in a world that has recently known so much hatred and suffering. There is need that Chris-ji tians shall know the spirit of love in all the activities of eyery-day life— ! in the home.-in business, everywhere! —if our country is made a good place for afl our people to dwell in. If we . would be loyal to Christ, we must be | loyal to our fellows. To be loyal, we must be willing, at any cost, to be spent in a ministry of love and help fulness toward others. y By HELEN HALE im- Food storage is exceedingly portant if you want to economize! and get the most -out of your food.) Store food according to its needs and 1 you’ll have little waste. Dairy products need the coldest | compartment of the refrigerator. They should be kept in their original containers., Keep meat compartment scrup- j ulously clean for meat storage. Wash ing the meat with water favors bac terial growth, so it’s best to wipe it only with a damp cloth after pur chasing. Perishable fruits and ,vegetables, (with the exception of banana? and avacadoes) should go into the' re frigerator, but all decayed spots and outside leaves should be removed first. Most fruits and vegetables need the moisture of the vegetable com partment, but these require dryness: cauliflower and mushrooms. Sweet potatoes as well as Irish potatoes need to be kept cool and dry and should not be refrigerated. Berriei are exceedingly perish able. They should be stored as flat as possible, on a fine wired rack, and washed just before using. Eggs n«*ti the cold of the refriger ator or they will perish. It’s a good thing to hav.» them in their original carton as this prevents evaporation through the shell. Moisture, when they are stored in an open dish, de stroys the sholl coating that keeps air out of the shell. Dried dates, because of their high sugar, content, should be refrigerated to keep them from becoming dis agreeably sugary. CITY Pi Expert Sh Clinton S. D.
