Later coffee, sandwiches and cook ies were served. Ijers gathered for the monthly meet ing. “ After a business session conducted by the chairman, Mrs. W. M. Hughes, Mrs. D. B. Smith gave the devotional and led an open discussion bn “Child Welfare.” During a social hour the hostesses feerved a salad, sandwiches and cook ies with Russian tea. Joanne Copeland Hostess To Friends Saturday evening Joanne Cope land invited a number of school friends for a weiner roast at her home. Bonfires were built and weiners roasted on long sticks, and served with coca-cola, rolls and pickles. About twenty guests enjoyed the occasion. Mrs. Boyd Hostess 'Ex Libris' Club Mrs. Hubert Boyd was hostess to the Ex Libris club Tuesday after noon. * , Chrysanthemums added attractive ness to the living room where mem bers gathered for the regular bi monthly meeting. The program con sisted of a general discussion of cur rent events and books were exchang ed. During the afternoon the hostess served tea and hot cinnamon buns. Baptist Y. W. A. Meets With Mrs. Sfieajy The November meeting of the Young Women’s Auxiliary of the fHrat^Baptist -church was held on Monday the 3rd, at the home of the leader, Mrs. O. H. Sheely, Jr. Mrs. Herman Nabors, -assisted by Mary Alice Dixon* Miss Betty Sue Simpson, Mrs. Margaret Bull, Miss Lillian Dixon and Miss Roslyn Cason, rendered the program on “Africa. ’ At the close of the meeting the group joined in singing “Happy Birthday” to Mrs. Sheely who was observing hers that day.- Miss Simp- son^ assisted the hostess in serving refreshments. Birthday Party For Jane Ray Friday evening in observance of lier 11th birthday Jane Ray enter tained 14 girl friends with^ dinner party at the home of her parents, Mr. and^Mrs. Clayte Ray; The lace covered dining stable was beautifully appointed in a yellow and white color note with a cenral arrangement of chrysanthemums flanked by tall burning tapers. Sev f eral small tables, similarly appointed, were placed in the living room. Salad and sweet courses were served. Later the group enjoyed a movie. Mrs. T. D. Jacobs assisted Mrs. Ray in the courtesies of entertaining. Music Club Meets With Mrs. Harris Wednesday afternoon the Clinton Music club held the November meet ing at the home of Mrs. W. W. Har ris. Mrs. Rembert Truluck, Mrs. Frank Fowler and Mrs. Lewis Pitts 1 were assistant hostesses. Program leader was Miss Rosa Mahaffey, who presented “Romantic Music” in an j interesting manner. Miss Mahaffey j gave a talk on “Romanticism in Lit-; erature.” The “Romantic Move- j iribnt in Music” was discussed by Mrs. Jasper Rowland. A number of muscial selections were on the program as follows: Piano duet. “Invitation to the Dance (Weber). Mrs. E. H. Hall, Miss Carolyn Ash ley. \ t Piano solo. “Minute Waltz” (Chopin). Neeley McCarter. Piano solos. “Trois Ecossaises” (Chopin). “Because” (Chopin). “Fantasie Impromptu” (Chopin). Carolyn Stanford. Piano solo. “To the Sea” (McDowell). Mrs. Harry McSween. Vocal solo. “Cradle Song” (Brahms). Mrs. F. A. Triplett. Piano solo. “Minuet” (Bach) (arranged by McDowell). Piano solo. “Song” (McDowell). Mrs. Harry McSween. To close the program the club joined in singing a hymn by Schu mann, “Lord Speak to Me.” Later the guests uwere invited into the dining room for refrshments, which were served in buffet style from a table adorned with an ar rangement ob white dahlias. Pouring coffee was Mrs. E. H. Hall, Sr. Roses and garden chrysanthemums were used for decoration in the living room. Out of town guests included: Mrs. F. A. Triplett, Bob Triplett and Miss Carolyn Stanford, all of Chester. Sara Glenn Circle Meets With Mrs. Dawkins Mrs. S. D. Dawkins, Mrs. Frank Hilton and Mrs. Joe Davidson were hostesses at the home of the former Monday evening to the Sara Glenn circle of Broad Street Methodist church. Gladioli and chrysanthemums were used to decorate the living and dining rooms where thirty-six mem- Murray Addison Celebrates Birthday Murray Addison daughter pf Mr. and Mrs. Tom Addison, celebrated her 3rd birthday Monday with a party at Lakeside country club. On arrival the 65 little guests were pre sented novel paper hats to wear and crickets. Punch was served in the adjoining room. The honoree was dressed in blue and wore a corsage-of white mums, a birthday gift. Balloons were suspended from the chandelier and streamers of rainbow colors extended overhead and to cor ners of the room. The refreshment table, centered with the decorated birthday cake, also featured pastel i colors. Mrs. Heath Copeland played “Hap py Birthday” on the piano while the group sang. Party plates of ice cream individual cakes, candy cups and suckers were served.
