C, Thursday> October 16, 1947 Number 42 Preaches On Fifth Commandment P0UTICAL ANARCHY 10 RESULT FROM DOMESTIC ANAtCHY, SAYS METHODIST BISHOP V Columbia, Oct. 13.—Edwin Holt Hughes, who has been a Methodist bishop longer than any other man living, clbsed a two-day visit to Col umbia Sunday 'morning by preaching a unique sermon, for which he is justly famous, on the Fifth Com mandant—“Honor thy father and thy mother,-that thy days may be long on the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” The bishop, a small man with a tiny mustache and shock of snow white hair falling down his fore head, and with a Welch tempera ment that enables him to switch quickly from prophetic sterness to puckish humor, told a congregation which packed Washington Street Methodist church that he had never heard any other preacher use the Fifth Commandment 'sermon text.
