Little Joanne Todd Celebrates Birthday In celebration of her fourth birth day Tuesday afternoon, May 13, Jo anne Todd invited a number of play mates for a party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Todd. After several outdoor games the little guests were invited into the dining room for refreshments. The cake bearing four lighted candles formed a pretty centerpiece for the table. The cake was cut and served with ice cream, punch and candy. The little folk were given favors of the occasion. * Joanne was remembered with a host of gifts. Drop-In For Out-of-Town Visitor Mrs. J. C. McSween of Defuniak Springs, Fla., was guest of honor Saturday afternoon when Mrs. Wil liam Bailey Owens and Mrs. J. F. Jacobs entertained with a drop-in at the home of the former. Dukes-Hurt Engagement Mr. and Mrs. Bailey Augustus Dukes of Laurens, announce the en gagement of their daughter, Vivian Augusta, to Alvin Judson Hurt of Cheraw and Easley. The wedding will take place on June 10 at the First Baptist church of Laurens. The bride-elect, a graduate of Pre*>yterian college, has many friends here who will be interested in her forthcoming marriage. Mrs. Jacobs Hostess Wednesday Bridge Club The Wednesday bride club enjoyed a meeting last week at the home of Mrs. William P. Jacobs, II. Wayne Johnson Miss Ruth McMillan became the bride of Harold Wayne Johnson of Morgan ahd Thomasville, Ga., in a ceremony taking place Sunday after noon at the parsonage of Broad Street Methodist church. The vows, witnessed by only the immediate families of the couple, were heard by Rev. P. L. Bauknight, the bride’s pastor. For her wedding the bride wore a cocoa ’dress with a corsage of ) talisman roses, a natural panama jhat with brown band and other ac cessories in brown and white. * Immediately after the ceremony the bridal couple left for a short honeymoon trip, after which they will make their heme in Thomasville. Mrs. Johnson is the younger daughter of Mt. and Mrs. Jodie C. McMillan of this city. Honor Students The honor students at Presbyte rian college were feted on Friday evening with a banquet in Jiffdan dining hall. Speaker for the occasion was Dr. Thornwell Jacobs, of Atlanta, Ga., former president of Oglethorpe Uni versity. The dining hall was beautifully decorated with seasonal flowers, pastel-tinted bouquets being used at intervals on the tables. Guests included the sixty-three students on the dean’s list, the facul ty and staiff of the college. H. G. Prince was chairman of ar rangements for the dinner and deco rations were under the supervision of Mrs. Marshall W.
