' CLINTON HAS FIRST SHOWING IN CAROL!NAS \ ' , ’ . ~ - - ‘ V ’ > * ^ By special arrangements with Faramoimt Pictures, the Casino Theatre brings the first of a series of pre-release engagements to Clinton with the showing of Ray Mi Hand, Teresa Wright and Brian Donlevy in “The Trouble With Women." Scheduled for next Monday and Tuesday, the picture has Milland cast as a college professor who writes a book on ho* to dominate women. One of his pupils, Teresa Wright, destroys his theories through the simple means of feminine wiles. Reorden Honored By Firm for 25 Yeqrs Service Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Blakely were week-end guests of the latter’s fath er, James Wesley Bearden, in Oran geville and attended a dinner given on Saturday evening in the crystal room of the Sheraton-Bon Air hotel in Augusta, Ga., by the Graniteville company in celebration of Mr. Bear den’s 75 years of continuous service with the company. Mr. Bearden’s family and the officials of the tex tile firm were present. Prior to the dinner a radio pro gram dramatizing his 75 years with the Graniteville company was broad cast over station WGAC, Augusta, and other stations covering the area. During the program a 75-year ser vice diamond and platinum pin -was given Mr.. Bearden by Samuel H. Swint, president of the company. In addition, as further indication of the company’s appreciation for Mr. Bear den’s unique; record of service, he was presented a five-piece silver ser vice. Piano Recital At Thornwell Friday Night Tomorrow evening at eight o’clock in ’the Thornwell chapel, Miss Luva McDonald will present her piano pupils in recital, with the public in vited. •’ KING IN STATES First Lt. C. E. King, who has been stationed in Japan, has landed in California and is expected to arrive here in the next few days. Mrs. King has been making her home here with her mother, Mrs. W. C. (Kit) Young and Mrs. Nannie Blake ly Young, of this city, held a reunion on Mother’s day at* the Lakeside country club. Fifty-seven were present for the happy occasion.
