To Meet Tuesday Evening The Parent-Teacher Association will meet Tuesday evening, March 11, at 7r30 at Florida Street school. This will be the first meeting of the organization’s new year. Dr. B. C. Murdoch, of me Presby terian college faculty, will speak on “Guidance For Children.” Study Club Meets With Mrs, Sadler Mrs. R. E. Sadler was hostess to the Wednesday Study club last week at her home. Adorning - the living room were bouquets of yellow daffodils. Mrs. R. S. Owens, program leader for the'afternoon, gave a talk on the people of Alaska. During the afternoon a salad course with coffee and bon-bons was served. Jane Todd Has Birthday Party On the occasion of her ninth birth day, Jane Todd entertained a group of school-mates at dinner. HammondrCullum Engagement Mrs. Samifel Newton Hammond, of Bate&burg, announces the engage ment of her daughter, Alpha Wilson, and William Eldridge Cullum, of Co lumbia, son of Mrs. Joseph Barber I Wylie and the late Lorenzo Dow Cul lum. The wedding will take place April 8. Miss Hammond was graduated from Winthrop college with a bache lor of arts degree \n library science and siqce her graduation has been librarian in the Clinton high school. Mr. Cullum, who served in the Wonderful marines four years, has resumed his studies at the University of South Carolina where he will be graduated in August. Boland-Major Engagement Mr. and Mrs. Ratchford Wilson Boland announce the engagement of their daughter, Betty Ann, to James Harper Major. The wedding will take place in March. Birthday Dinner Honors Mrs. Harris Mrs. Bessie Harris was given a birthday dinner Sunday* by her children at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. Harris in the Long Branch community. Those present were members of the immediate families and a number of friends. Mrs. Harris was celebrating her 73rd birthday and was remembered with many attractive gifts. Mrs. Shifts Hostess. Ella Riddell Circle Members of the Ella Riddell circle of Thomwell Memorial church aux-| iliary met on Tuesday morning at the home of Mrs. F. M. Stutts. Mrs. Varina Betsill, chairman, presided and opened with prayer. Mrs. Stutts conducted the Bible study on Isiah. Mrs. A. S. Maxwell, program leader, discussed the topic, “Stewards For The House of Life and Peace.” The meeting closed with prayer by Mrs. M. A. Macdon ald. A. R. P. Society Elects New Officers Mrs. C. B. Miss Hammond Honored With Parties On iS^t Monday evening Miss Jo sephine Harris, Miss Laura Bell and Miss Mary Gaines were hostesses at an informal supper party honoring Miss Wilson Hammond, bride-elect of April. Supper was served buffet style, the dining table being beautifully deco rated with a centerpiece of yellow jonquils. Elsewhere ih the receiving rooms jonquils and other spring flowers were used. Two tables were arranged for the games amid a setting of early spring flowers in varied arrangements. A svpeet course was served after which a number of progressions were en joyed. When scores were counted Mrs. Bill Shields was found to be winner and awarded a prize. Bridal place cards Jackie Pitts Celebrates Birthday Jackie Pitts celebrated his birthday on Tuesday afternoon at the home of her mother, Mrs. James Pitts, by invitiftg about twenty-five little friends for a party. After a number of games the little folk, were served ice cream and cookies.
