The Federal Works Agency has re cently tsdcen over all privately owned electric power companies in the Is land of Puerto Rico and if it could do it there, most likely it could hap pen here. The Record seems to suggest the thought that one way to beat the Federal Works Agency to the draw, would be for Governor Jefferies to call the General Assembly in extra ordinary session and either demand, order or urgently request that the law-making body reverse itself and enact a law enabling the Santee- Cooper Authority to buy-or otherwise “take over” the South Carolina Elec tric and Gas company in and around and especially “north of Columbia” and in this way, private capital or risk of money would finance the new deal and remove all danger of Fed eral acquisition or control of Santee- Cooper. Goldville Woman’s Club Meets The Woman’s club of Goldville met last Thursday evening at Jo anna N club with about 80 ladies in attendance. Mrs. R. G. Soft red and blue lights creat ed a star-lit atmosphere. Small tables, seating four, with place cards, had a white candle with an Ameri can flag in the center. The center of the room was left for dancing be tween courses. The footlights cast a soft light through a row of zinnias and American flags. Mmes. O’Dell, Francis, Luke Clark, R. S.
