Girl Scouts Meet Forty girls from 7 to 16 met with the new Girl Scout director, Miss Thelma Hicklin, Monday afternoon at the scout cabin. The scout oath and laws were explained. Defense Program Friday evening, an interesting and;/ instructive program featuring home defense was held at Providence school with Russell Cobb acting as chairman. After community singihg, under direction of Mrs. lone Wallace, Dr. Brabham, of the county health de partment, was introduced. Dr. Brab ham urged the community “to carry on“ on the home front by preparing itself to serve intelligently in any emergency. At the conclusion of Dr. Brabham’s talk, Dr. Both well Gra ham gave the first in a series of les sons in first aid. The class, after sing ing the national anthem, was dis missed by prayer by the Rev. W. R. Quinn. About Seventy persons were present at this initial meeting. The first aid class, open to anyone in Clinton, Clinton Mill or Lydia Mill, wil be held each Thursday at Provi dence school, beginning promptly at 8:30 o’clock.
