SMITH’S PHABMACT A idiooting affair Monday eveninf at 6:30 in front of Birdsey Flour Mill store, resulted in thu Jdlling of one Negro wom^oi, Rosa Lee Richey, and the wounding of a second woman in the arm. < The shooting was dq[ie by Oble Laudeh,'^egro, who movM here a few months ago fnan Green wood. From inlmrmation" gathered it seemed that Lauden and his wife had been quarreling and the latter had left him and moved elsewhere near the city. His wife, two other Negro women and a Negro man were park ed in a taxi in front of the Birdsey place when Lauden came to town from his work looking for his wife. Finding her in the car they began quarreling and in a few minutea urere engaged in a fight. He thm pulled his pistol and fired twice into the car, at his wife, the two shots striking Rms Lee Richey in the head, with death following instantly. His wife was shot in the arm and later was removed by officers to the hos pital for treatment. After the shooting Lauden dragged his wife out on the sidewalk and was beating her when Officer Bal lard arrived and arrested him.
