He arrtves at a resort and la charged 9 per cent extra every time he takes hia wife to the roof garden for dancing and drinks. And, because the liquor tax is in creased from $2 to $4 a gallon, he will pay more for the drinks. If ha orders wine, he will pay higher taxes, but if he is satisfied witii beer thera will ba no increased tax. Picking up some trinklets for his wifo in the resort novelty shop might coat Mr. Jones a 10 jper cent tax on Jewelry. If he wanted a tennis rac quet or a set of golf clubs that would be anotim* 10 per cent Cigarets will nat cost him any more, but, because of a two-cent-a- thouaand tax on matches, he might have to pay for his lights. If he decides to buy a new car and drive homa he will pay a 7 per cent tax on tha car, a levy of 9 cents a pound on the tires and a 9-cext-a- poxmd impost on the tubes. And a $9 annual use tax on the car will go into effact next February 9. Daciding on his ratnm hoaM that ha naeda a naw radio and a rafrig- aratmr, Mr. Jooaa srill pay a 10 par cant tax of aach. Should ha want to buy hit wifo a piano, a bottle of par- fume or pteca of luggage ha will pay 10 par cant tax ated on ttiam. Whan vtetton coma for a gaam ol bridge, ha win pay a levy of II canto a pack for cards. When ha wants to take a picture of hia family th«a will ba tha 10 per cent on photo graphic apparatus. Tha telephona bill will go up — S per cent on local bills and 10 par cant on most long distance calls— and a new typewriter will invoke tha 10 per cent tax on business machines. If Mr. Jones is a laundry operator he will have to pay 10 per cent aaore for his washing ihachines, but he could buy one for his home without tax. Keeping a safe deposit box will cost him 20 per cent of the rental ix-ice, and belonging to his club might bring on the 10 per cent levy on club dues of more than $10 an nually. The movies will qpet more, tbo, because the new bill puts an approx imate 10 per cent tax on all admis sions costing 10 cents and more. If Mr. Junes shoots a game of pool or spends a half-hour in a bowling al ley he might pay a trifle more be cause of the annual $19 fox on bowl ing alleys, billiard and pool tables.
