Temperance Legion Chikl Formed For Children Mrs. Alec Henry, president of the local Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, has recently organized a Loy al Temperance logion among the children of the city. On Tuesday afternoon seventeen members of the new organization chaperoned by Mrs. Henry and Mrs. T. P. Owens enjoyed an outing to Horseshoe falls. After, a short pro gram the childmx enjosred playing in the water. They then returned to the home of Mrs. Henry where a picnic supper was served. Poge Three' Miss Alice Gaines Honored With Forty Miss Rosalie Bailey was hostess Friday afternoon at her hoinlb in Greenwood to honor Miss Alice Oainft, whose marriage to James Park Sloan of this city is to take place June 28. A group of Miss Gaines’ friends assembled at the W. T. Bailey home where two tables were set up for contract bridge. Following cards high score prize went to Mrs. Charlton Keen of Marianna, Fla., the former Miss Mildred Hooten of this city. Miss Bailey remembet^ Miss Gaines with a gift of linen. Rev. L. P. McGee, pastor, gave the fifth in a series of Bible studies on “Jesus and Social Redemption.” Circle No. 2, Mrs. Sidney Rumph, chainnan, had charge of the program for the afternoon. Mrs. D. R. Hol land, leader4 assisted by Mrs. McGee, Mrs. Guy J&nory and Mrs. Dave W. Copeland, presented an interesting program on “Our Stewardship For Christian Citizenship.” Miss Col lette ~€hrif fin rendered a vocal se lection. Johnson. He’is a graduate of Presbyterian college and holds a position with Lydia Mills. Miss Alice Goines Honored With Party Miss Alice Gaines, bride-elect of the month, was honored on Wednes day afternoon when Mrs. T. Heath (continued on page seven) The ceremony was performed by Rev. Marion F. Moorhead, pastor of the bride and groom, in the presence of the two immediate families and close friends. Vows were sp(^en before an altar of bridal green and white improvised in front of the living room mantel with fern, tall baskets of white lark spur, flanked on eithpr side by floor candelabra holding white lighted ta pers and having a background of white entwined with ivy. Arrange ments of roses and larkspur were used «boui.the rooms to complete the bridal decorations. Prior to the cmemony, William B<^, pianist, rendered “Londonderry Air.” To the strains of “Vienese .Re frain” the candles were lighted by little Claudette Parriah, sister of the bride, and Esther Johnson, sister of the groom. The girls were dressed in blue taffeta end wore small corsafes of pink roses. “Traumerei” was soft ly played during the ceremony. The bride and groom entered the cermony room together. ’The bride was charming in a dress of navy sheer with accessories in navy and white. Her flowers were a corsage of white gardenias.
