Co Time marches on,’* so do we, the aoldiera of Camp Stewart How ever, we are not doing a great deal of that croaa-o^try strolling at present Do? ovdniihi hiking, and Vang sand psKlded atrolls have given way to the hifher and more technical leases of military training. For instance: Now Instead of get ting up at thrM A. M., and moving out under the cover of darkness, we get up at our usual late hour of 5:40, take a few hours of physical drill (ten minutes to be exact), then we have chow (breakfast to you). After chow, we “Police the Area.” But we never arrest anyone. How ever, we do take into dustody quite a few cigarette butts, match atema, pieces of paper, an ocouional “Deed Soldior” (empty what-yqu-may-caU -it bottle) and much other foreign substance audi aa empty cigarette padcagea, gum wrappers, etc. The idee behind it all is, aa old iiinera know, that polidng an area means ctean^ it up. After we finish our law enforce ment work (the law of cleanliness) we then have to'fall-out, and we are scarcely out before we have to fall- in, in fact aometimea we wonder whether we are going or cmning. In my humble way, and with my meager knowledge of'army lingo I will try to tell you a few definitions, and how easily they are confuled with other meanings, and how easy ia for you to get rCl mixed up if and when you ever come down to see us, which we hope will be soon. Any of y<m are welcome at any time to pay US a visit and see and hear our camp lingo, and you can be as sured that you will receive a hearty welcmne, and give us much Joy and pleasure by coming. Let me ^rtart my lingo-lob-lollyVog by teUixM Fou of bow one of our mm thought he waS going to get ajaeveral lot of money for nothixig. You haVe read before of our sick call, which means that if one has anythi^ fitm fallen arches to falling hair, and feels that it may enterfere with his work he can go to the infirmary and sit sround for awhile and maybe get out of a bit of work. Of course, there are thnes vdwn one gets castor oil for. bad bugs, add aspirin for water on ttie kim. Then if there ever happens to be anything really wrong with you you wiU be given a tUp (rf papar which will read Quarters. One man came in the other morning, who bad. not been to the infirmary, he seemed to be feeling mighty bad, but not enough so as to be a.h<^tal case (we do have sudi caa<» at times). He seemed worried and asked for ad- rice as to what to db with him, the clerk told him that he would very likely be given qiuurters. Instantly he brightened up and said: “Oh boy, that will be swell, for I am really broke” About the cmly official'title down here Biat makes sense is tvpplj ser geant, who is James N. Warrso. Now go back to Om tityss that mean so mudi and sound so silly (to you) we tsU you that you should pay us a visit 1^ anyone tells you to go see the Mess SgU or the men are at mess, pleeae do not be too hasty wiffi your aasumptkm. Merely go to the diaing hall and you would find Sgt IL L. Foster and the men par- taJeing of one «f those delightful feasts, (that cookies and 1 dm’t m«m ^ kind you eat, HoBihd and Hunnicutt, that have come to be so profieient in oo(dcing). If while here you feel bad and somaone tails you to go see a pill-roller it simly means find an enlisisd man to give you ediat it takes. If ywi are told to go go to the hafimary where you will get the top-kick, do not he alarmed for that does not mean for you to go and get the top (d your anat omy kJdnd,-B slii^ply maans find Sgt Owens. 11 you are told to look ar Bw goM-biidts, (the goldiest of whidi is Corp DeYoung), It'means a huodi of soldiers who bad rather take castor oil than wctfk.
