Laist Nov^ber Ford announced that he would build “a million cars or better* 'in 1985. With the year but half gona the figures show that, op U> June SOth, the Ford Motor Company had built 810,700 units in the United States and Canada. Foreign manu facture for the six-months period was 87,804, bringing the total world pro- duction to ^848r804. "Whan do you expect to pass Uia 1,000,000 mark?" Mr. Ford waa asked. The motor-maker, wearing a fine coat of tan and appearing to be in the beet of spirits, a^n smiled as he said: “Now, now!—^that's something else •gain. I'm Just a manufacturer, not a prophet.—Our men have had work for whidi our wboll oigun^tion is thankful. There are many things that lead us*to be hopeful for the next six months. But we're mjit dead cer tain. We art just doing best we HEART AND MENTAL STRAIN Some men endmib mental strain and ^rry better thafi'Tidmrs: but, rt still reinadns a fact-^hat the over-taxed biain, in any man, affords one. of the most certain routes to “death from a heart attack." The case of former President ^Wilson may be cited. His was a brilliant men tality'which was worked to more than capacity limit. I never have known of a man who endured gresitei* strain, till the collapse and the crash. His cir^- lation gave way to cerebral hmnorr- hage. The strain was the real cause of death. ^ Then Warren my not fitted for .hearing l^vy men^ hur- dens that' were his. He, stimulated, laughed, struggled, and steadily weak- Mied. It was the heert^He dropped almost as from a gun-shot President Coodilge. I could not call him either a physical or mental giant, imther a plain, honest little fellow, capable within certain limits. The big fellows did his figuring, while he won dered what it was alh about. Sensing catastrophe he announced, “I do not choose to run." Self-preservation Warned^—he heeded the message, may be not knowing exactly why. At least* he never explained. His neart, it was —and the end. I could name many others, if space permitted, where men simply strained themselves .into the most certain of deaths from heart disease. Yet rten keep oji doing it. My object in this let ter is, to urge you to avoid worrying over affairs that you cannot alter to suit yourself^ can.
