Washington, Jana 2. — Two Demo cratic senators, one from the North west and the othet from New England, joined in a demand on tbe senate to day that speedy disposition be made of the tariff bill in order that busi ness may plan for the future. Democratic leaders, however, dis claiming any attempt ooduly to delay final action, pointed out that the two conference reports materially changed tbe senate and house bills and served notice they would be discussed fully. A vote is not expected .before the lat ter part of the week. As soon as Senator Smoot, iRepub- lican, Utah, callad up tlic'secoad re port, covering only half a dozen im portant provisions, including the new flexiMe clause. Senator IMII, Demo crat, Washington, demanded an imme diate vote without further debate. ' "There is such a thing as the satu ration point in senate debate, and that point has been reached on this bill," Dill asserted,’ adding that delay only tended to "make conditions worse," and that further discussion would be merely for the purpose of “getting speeches in the record." ‘ Senator Walsh, Democrat, Massa chusetts, joined in urging "rtasonable haste," saying he had reason to be lieve that business was "in a aery se- rioys add critical conditiaB'* and ap peals were coming to him for quick actioa, even from opponents of the Tzr: pr "They waat the atmoephere cleared so bueiacM can plan for the future," he said, adding that if "aay senator didn't know how he eras goiag to vote, he ought mt be- herw" . Objecting to a vote before the mani fold compromises reschod in confer ence were debated. Senator Harrison, Democrat, Mississippi, said the "Sen ate and tbe country were entitled to know what was done in conference and what is in the reports." The Mississippian said he would dis- cuuss three phases of the measure and added "there will be no vote this week." Senator Simmons of North Carolina, leading minority conferee of the sen ate, concurred in the request for quick action, but .sa;d he wanted ample time given for discussion. “I think the country is exceedingly anxious that we reach a final definite determination on this measure," Sim mons said. "Business will be highly gratified when action is taken, wheth er favorable or unfavorable." t :..t« c:r.. r^j r;;, ' 1b Just “Printing” Won’t Do J D Style and Quality are just as important in print- ^ig as in merchandise — the time ha^ past when "printing” was just "printing.” If wur printing problem needs more than merely a printer — if it demands real understanding by one who knows vdiat todo and has the fadfities to do it, we are at yOur service. * D s I I .i Years of experience, a modem plant and a keen desire tosorveareat your command here.
