Rotarians of Clinton are scheduled to enjoy a dinner in the near future at the expense of the Rotary club of Laurens as a result of their victory in an attendance contest conducted dur ing the month of April, it was an nounced at the regular weekly meet ing of the local club held in the Mary Musgrove Tea Room last Friday. The official standings of the two clubs has not been tabulated as yet, but it is expected that this data will be received from the district governor within the next few days. On receipt of this, it is expected that plans will be made for the local Rotarians to go to Laurens and there be entertained at a dinner. The Clinton club had three 100 per cent attendance meetings during the peri< d of the contest, while it is re ported that at Laurens, the attend ance at two meetings was considerably below that of any held in this city. In addition to "receiving the news of their victory at the meeting last Friday, the Clinton Rotarians wore su perbly entertained by a quartet of talent from the Presbyterian college. The group, consisting of H. G. Prince, Lincolnton, N. C.; W. C. Dendy, Sene ca; G. D. Rowe, Bennettsville, and Jack O’Neal, Rock Hill, gave a pro gram in which song, instrumental mu sic of an out of the ordinary type and humorous impersonation entered. As a vocal quartet, the group ren dered several lively and highly appeal ing popular numbers, and then as in dividuals proceeded into skillful dem enstrations of their particular fields of entertainment. These included im personations of dialogue, gesture and piano playing by Mr. Prince, a violin solo by Mr. O’Neal, a xylophone solo by Mr. Dendy and a banjo solo by Mr. Rowe. The consensus among the Rotarians at the conclusion of the entertainment was that this had been one of the most enjoyable programs of the year. Poultry Show At Wadsworth “The Lay of a Hen” "is the title of a four-act play to be given at the Wadsworth school on next Tuesday evening, at 8 o’clock. The entertain ment is strictly educational and deals with poultry fro* every angle. It will be presented by J. F. Johnson and W. P. Murphy of the Purina Mills, St. Louis, Mo. The play is amusing from start to finish and will be enjoyed by all who are present. It is likewise instructive and beneficial to all who are interested in poultry raising. It is absolutely free to everybody and the public is cprdially invited to be present. The same entertainment will be pre sented in the Long Branch school- house on Wednesday night, May 25th, at 8 o’clock. Everybody invited with ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH Rev. M. R. Today we miss the familiar face of one who has rarely beeij absent at these gatherings, and one who con tributed much to the pleasure of all on like occasions, and whose enthu siasm knew no bounds on Memorial day.
