Shockley of Spar tanburg and Mrs. Moffatt of Laurens. IN HONOR OF FORMER INSTRUCTOR On Saturday evening Prof, and Mrs. Marshall W. Brown entertained the members of the Presbyterian college faculty and their wives in honor of a former instructor at the college, Prof. Henry T. Lily of Davidson college. An unusually pleasant evening was spent and Uie hostess, assisted by Miss Hety) (Comfort, and Mrs. J. H. Hunter, served an attractive sweet course followed by salted almonds. YOUNG PEOPLE 1 ENJLOY PARTY On Tuesday afternoon Miss Caro line Martin entertained with an at tractive GeoYge Washington party in honor of Miss Isabella Landrum. Stutts gave a lovely dinner to six invited guests, teachers in the Thorn- well Memorial Sunday school, at their - home on Thomwell street. The guests were: Misses Nancy Pearson, Ina Compton, Mattie McFadden, Bessie Dugan, Robofta Stark and Phyllis Hecht. A tempting three-course din ner was served. On the previous Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Stutts entertained six other of the teachers with a delightful four- course dinner. The guests were also from the Sunday school. They were: Misses Nelle Reardon, Kate Latimer, Carolyn Dugan, Messrs. Stewart, Da vis and Therrell of the Presbyterian college. On each occasion the guests spent the evening in music and song. FRIENDLY DOZEN WITH MRS. GLASGOW On Tuesday afternoon Mrs. E. L. Glasgow in a gracious manner enter tained the Friendly Dozen with an at tractive George Washington party. Decorations and favors cleverly por trayed the occasion. Mrs. Glasgow, assisted by Miss Annne Glasgow, served a delectable salad course fol lowed by rousse served in George Washington hats. The following mem bers and guests were present: Mrs. Richard Starr of Salem, N. J., Mes- and several additional friends. Goodman of Laurens, spent Fri day with Mrs. Jim Coleman. Mrs. R. D. Nance returned to her home near Chester on Thursday after a week’s visit to Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Nance. 1 Dr. and Mrs. Lambert Nance of Fort Valley, Ga., were called home last week on account of the illness of their father, who is now much im proved. Moorhead and Miss Sallie Wright. OPEN MEETING OF D. A. R. CHAPTER ‘ On last Thursday afternoon, Mrs. William J. Bailey, Regent, honored the members and friends of Musgrove’s Mill Chapter, D. A. R., at her beau tiful home on South Broadway. Each member had been invited to bring a friend to attend an open meeting of the chapter, and many availed them selves of the invitation. The spacious parlors and library eral weeks’ trip spent in England find other points. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Pinson have as their-guest, Dr. and Mrs. Hudson of North Carolina. Dr. Hudson was for merly pastor of the Baptist church here. Miss Gertrude Leaman of ’Ware Shoals spent the week-end at home. Henry Adair Is Claimed By Death Henry Adair, aged 35, son of Mrs. Corrie Adair, died at his home Monday were profusely decorated with yellow afternoon after an illness of several jonquils, forsythia and white snow! weeks. The funeral service was held garland. The guests were welcomed at the door by Miss Clara Duckett, Tuesday afternoon at the residence and was conducted by Rev. M. R. Hunler and Miss Jimmie Atkins assisted the hostess and the following guests were present: Mes dames Pressle McMillan, Henry Young. T. J. Blalock, A. V. Martin, A. E. Spencer, Jim Wright, A. W. Again on Friday afternoon Mrs. Young, assisted by Mrs. Roger Coe, Mrs. Reese Young and Miss Jimmie friends who loved him and were al ways kind and considerate to him. The deceased is survived by his I. O., and L. L. Adair.
