AID NEAR EAST A number of families in the city had Near East dinners last Sunday in accordance with the national appeal. The student body of the Presbyterian college also joined in The observance to assist in relieving the suffering in the stricken countries. CLINTON LEARNS OF NEAR EAST The Presbyterian college and Thorn- well Orphanage and many leaders of the different organizations had a de- Jightful pleasure in hearing Mrs. Gan naway and Zadi. Mrs. Gannaway’s husband is a physician and for six years they have worked in Armenja. Little Zadi is a native Armenian and her story is most appealing, Mr. Lex Kluttz has also visited* Clinton and the Near East drive is now in full swing. The town and different or ganizations are being well canvassed and this week the school children are doing splendid work. While Mrs. Gannaway was here she was entertained in quite a unique way by being given a Golden Rule tea. CUNN1NGHAM-JOHNSON WEDDING On Thanksgiving morning friends were surprised to hear of the marri age of Miss Ruby Cunningham and Mr. J. K. Johnson. Dr. Vines of Greenwood, performed the ceremony at ten o’clock at the Greenwood pas- torium. The bride was becomingly attired in a blue georgette over satin with har monizing accessories. The only at tendants were Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Caldwell of Greenville. Mrs. Johnson is no stranger in Clin ton and her many friends are pleased to have her make Clinton her home. Mr. Johnson has been employed as carrier at city postoffice for a num ber of years and is quite popular in the city.
