Forty Men . In Squad. The first year men of the Presby terian College, forty-odd strong, are dally being drilled on the football field by Coach Lonnie McMillian. Included in the “rat” roster are some names already famous in South Carolina football, Dunlap and Barnwell of the ’23 champion Thornwell team are can didates. Pearce of Florence, Wilson of Olanta, Shaw of Sumter, Kolb of Sumter, and many others are candi dates. In Coker, diminutive end of Alaba ma, Presbyterian presents something new. Coker, small in stature, but with grit tq spaire, is making the place mighty hot around end. In spite of having only one arm, the'other having been severed at the shoulder, he snags passes if they are within ten, feet of him. He is a sure tackier and hits his man hard. He bida fair to being one of Lonnie McMillian’s regular ends in spite of his handicap. , The varsity defeated the fresh in their first scrimmage of the season held last Friday, but only after a hard Fight. The outstanding “rat” stars Seemed to be Coker, Pearce, McQuis- ton, and Wilson. But the lineup was changing so often that it was impos sible to really size up the men. Coach McMillian has been heard to say. that he is going to have a mighty ligflt team, even lighter thari in past yean, but that they will be speedy.
