SIMPLE HABITS URGED The board of bishops of the Metho dist church has issued a statement to the members of that organization, in which they ask those people to forego habits of luxurious personal expend^ ture. This suggestion will be warmly ap plauded by the mass of the people, though it is doubtful if very much at tention will ba paid to it. ^ It is, of course, easy for those who have but little money, to suggest to the wealthy that they should omit extravagant ex penditure. If one -had been very suc cessful in business and had always had money, it might not be so easy to cut off these costly habits. However, the bishops who have started thia proposal, have a good idea. Not much happiness is gained by the people who spend lavishly tod extra vagantly on themselves. If they would take the same money and use it in Works of kindness and beneficence.
