Clinton ladies have already at odd times suggested novel plans for special features for some of the homes in College-View. Here .is an opportunity for every lady to test out her own ideas in competition with others and possibly be handsomely rewarded therefor. It is a seven room bungalow of modern con struction, one story, with a living room, dining room, three large bed rooms, bath room, kitchen, butler’s pantry and breakfast room, cellar, two porches and five closets. It is being built of finest material, including walls of handsome wire cut tapestry brick and hollow tile, floors of maple, tiled front porch and bath room, high grade pine interior finish, excellent hardware with glass knobs, roof of heavy weight As- bestos-Portland Cement Shingles (an improvement on slate.) It will have three fire places and a heating system. &200.00 For the Best Suggestions for Improvements This offer is made to the ladies only. For the purpose of developing an interest in home btiilding the Model Home is being built. It is de signed for the most modern apd practical from every standpoint. The public is invited to carefully watch its construction. Until the floor is laid it will be open for inspection at all times. When it is completed it will be furnished completely from front to back. Organizations inter ested in furnishing and equipping will install a complete and up-to-date equipment —The house will then be opened for inspection for a week. The last night in the week a big final reception will be held. . In the meanwhile every lady is urged to submit her idea as to the best and most practical feature for a model home. Such feature may include time and labor-saving or beautifying, improvements in arrangements or equipment for any portion of the house. As a suggestion many mod ern and entirely new ideas for chimney and fire-place arrangements, breakfast rooms, sleeping porches, ironing boards, coal chutes, 'vacuum cleaners, book cases, medicine chests, refrigerators, ventilators, laun dries, bath rooms, etc., are being installed in the up-to-date homes of to day. Suggestions along any of these or other lines will be welcome. Some will be used in the model home and others may not be. Privilege of using any of the suggestions offered is reserved. How the Prizes Will Be Distributed The prizes in cash will be given to the ladies submitting the best, most practical and most workable suggestions as follows: , For the Best Suggestion Submitted . . . $50.00 * Third Best Suggestion Subnytted .... $15.00 Second Best Suggestion Submitted . . . $25.00 For the Next 11 Best Suggestions . .$10.00 Each The winners will be decided by a secret committee of three to consist probably of an architect, a contractor, and an interior decorator. Every suggestion submitted by a lady will be considered. The features of the suggestions to receive most consideration will be novelty, practicability, time saving, lavor saving, economy, cost, beauty, durability. Do not submit a complete house plan. That is not what is desired. Only some special feature of the house. The suggestions should be in written form. A word description of not more than 500 words would be most desirable. If intricate, a rough idea of details of construction should be given. Should duplicate suggestions be submitted by more than one lady, details will decide. If details are identical the date of receipt will decide. Therefore, suggestions should be filed as soon as possible. The earlier your suggestion is filed, the more likely it is to be tested out in the Model Home. Each lady is entitled to only one suggestion and every suggestion MUST BE WRITTEN, dated and MAILED to the address below. . - No verbal suggestions will be considered. The prizes will be given and the winners announced on the last night of the reception when the house is completed. The use of your suggestion in the Model Home will have nothing to do with whether it wins a prize or not for the owner of the house will positively not be one of the judges. The judges will not be Clinton citizens. Every suggestion will be printed in a book, “The Model Home," as will many other ideas for the home builder and a directory of building material and house furnishing concerns. The books will be given away to visitors at the Model Home during the week’s reception. The names of the authors of the suggestions submitted may be printed in the book un less the author especially requests that her name be withheld. The book will be well worth keeping. The book will be free and no entrance fees for the contest will be charged. Admission to the house also will be absolutely free and neither visitors nor contestants are in any way obligated whatsoever. Neither is the Model Home planned for personal profit for any one. It is designed in a public spirited effort to stimulate interest in the building of modem uji-to-date homes, for the assistance of prospective home builders and to produce for Clinton an active “Build Your Own Home Campaign.” You have nothing to lose. The Model Home merely serves as a stimulation and clearing house for suggestions that will be mutually very helpful. It will have more to do with stimulating thrift and home building in Clinton than any one other event, and while now only in the formative state, the movement will no doubt receive the unanimous support of the entire community and the endorsement of the Commer- , c i a i Club and Civic Association, as well as the hearty support of all Clinton merchants, builders, banks and Building & Loan Associations.
