We ask that the Solicitor make or cause to be made an investi gation thereof and take such steps as may be necessa"ry to abate this nuis ance if warranted under the law. Our attention has been called to House Bill No. 1240,. now pending in the General Assembly of this. State, entitled, A Bill to Provide for the Payment of Salaries of School Teach ers in all Schools in South Carolina and to Appropriate Funds to Meet Same. We have read this bill and heartily approve same. We ask that the Clerk of this Court be directed to wire our delegation in the G<meral As sembly asking their Support of this bill. We recommend that the old soldiers * dependent on the county for a support be paid the sum of ten dollars per month instead of three dollars per month as now allowed* We have received the following re- ports; ' Report of County Board of Com missioners. Report of State Board of Welfare. ' Report of Rural Police as to con-* traband liquors seized since the last term of court. Report of Magistrate J. N. Wright. These are the only reports received. ' * The rural police exhibited receipts of Sheriff for three gallons and thi^e pihts of liquors seized by them and turned over to the Sheriff. The Sher iff turned over to us three quarts of liquor which was destroyed by us by pouring same into the city sewers. We renew the request of previous Grand Juries that all Magistrates, Game Warden and Peace Officers make reports to us at the next and succeed ing terms of this court. We have appointed the following committee to look after matters, com ing within their province: Committee on Public Roads and bridges: J. R. Crawford, G. C. Peter son, J^. Pitts Henry. Each member of the Grand Jury is to look into the general welfare of the county so far as he can and not to con fine himself simply to the matters properly coming before the commit- * tees of which he may be a member. We hope- by this means to inculcate a greater respect for law and to do our part towards the upbuilding of the county. v In conclusion we wish to thank the Judge and Court officials for the help given us and courtesies extended us. All of which is respectfully submit ted, S. G.
