The guests were met by Mrs. Cope- -tond bowl where Mrs. E. W. Ferguson and Mrs. T. D. Copeland presided. •After the playing of a number of interesting games of rook, delight ful pound cake and cream were served by Mrs. Cbpeland and Mrs. Emma Little. Mrs. C^ M. Bailey was presented with a beautiful bou quet of sweet peas for top score. This ITas one ightful picnics of the season and an elegant lunch was spread C. M. Bailey chaperoned. Mrs. M. J. McFadden gave quite an attroaetive rook party Monday morning in honor of the Seniors of the Presbyterian college. After the playing of a number of games a salad course with iced tea was served. The home was beautifully decorated in Dorothy Perkins ros es, sweet peas and tnasitl|rtSums^ After several hours of progressive conversation Misses Peggy Dunlap, Mercer Vanco, and Maude Ellis served block cream and cake. Dur- ing the evening about sixty guests called.' On Wednesday evening about twenty-five young girls and boys met at the home of Miss Nan Cope land and honored her with, a sur prise party. Each - guest had brought a pound and after the playing of a number of different games, the “pounding” was show ered and the guests partook of.a delightful lunch. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Henry have planned a delightful house party during chautauqua. Those who are to enjoy Mr. and Mrs. Henry’s kindness are: Misses Doris Young, Irene and Xannell Blhlock, Sarah Adair, Emmie Pitts, Louise David son, Mattie L. Copeland. After an hour or more of social conversation delightful strawber ries and cream were seorved. The ne^C meeting will be with Mrs. R. Copeland. -—— —-7— Thoroughly enjoyable was the party of Friday evening given by Miss Cassie Oliver in honor of the members of the Senior Cl^jss of the Thorn well College. The Lawn in front of the Lesh Infirmary was dotted with seats arranged for two. After a short while of progressive conversation the guests were asked to take part in a number of interesting games. One of the moat attractive features of the even ing was the singing in which all (the guests took part. At the summons of the hostess’ bell the young men gathered about her and sang two or three popular songs. Then the young ladies were asked to come forward a!nd sing. After this the l>oys and girls joined in singing a number of old familiar tunes. Later Mr. John Hol land Hunter entertained the crowd with some selections from; Uncle Remus. Throughout the evening delicious punch was served and later icecream. At a late hour the guests reluctantly took their leaves having spent a most delightful evening. M|ss Corinne Bailey entertained on Saturday evening in honor of Misses Nancy Brice and Mary White Bailey, of. Chester. The guests were met by Mrs. Bailey and introduced t<> the guests of honor. The lawn was effectively decorated with Japanese lanterns and from an attractive corner Miss Rose Cornelson served punch. The evening was pleasantly spent in progressive conversation. Delicious cream and cake were served by Rosa Anna Vance, Lucy and Flor ence Bailey.’ Mrs. D. C. Hayes gave a delight ful party in honor of her Sunday School class on last Wednesday af ternoon. On the lawn were many sofa pillows and nfgs, and the lit tle tots enjoyed every minute of the time spent with Mrs. Hayes. From a cozy nook Mrs. R. C. .McLees served lemonade. Mrs. John Lit tle and Mrs. Edward Long served pop corn, cream and cake. Besides the regular members the following w’ere also invited: John William and Henry Drhyton Dillard.
