It is proposed to install clocks for the cotton mills, the public school, probably one fot the use of the publie in the postoffice and several in Main street business houses. Lieut. Herbert Merritt, U. S. A.. Fort Mill soldier who is stationed with his regiment, the 59th coast artillery, at Fort Mills, Phil ippine islands, has the thanks of '1 he Times for two recent copies of The Corrfgidor Weekly, published in the interest of the officers and men of the American army located in the Philippines. Lieut. Merritt is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Merritt of Fort Mill township und has seen many years' service in the army, having enlisted in 19(H). That the day of the circus is not yet passed was proved Monday by the crowds that flocked to Charlotte to see the "show" which gave two performances in that city that day. The flaming circus posters of other years were not pasted on the sides of old buildings and on fences in the Fort Mill community this year, but the word got abroad nevertheless that Monday was "circus day" in Charlotte and there were perhaps as many as 1(H) Fort Mill people who took the day off to go to the North Carolina city "to s?e the animals." W. B. Patterson, superintendent, announces that next Sunday v ill be "red letter day" in the J leasant Valley Baptist Sunday school. There will be all-day services and dinner will be served on the grounds.
