Leading merchants of York county see no reduction In price of dress goods and clothing for fall and winter ^ r wear. Some of the more progressive merchants are now preparing to hold summer clearance sales with a view to making room for fall goods. Most of them will carry larger stocks than they have been carrying heretofore. ^ S. Gordon, leading citizen of Tlrzah and postmaster of that village, is said to be one of the most thorough students of the Bible In Tork county. The name Tlraah Is a Biblical name and the York county village was so named on that account. The name V Tlraah occurs In the Bible nine times, according to Mr. Gordon. The committee in charge of the programme tor the York County Cotton association picnic to be held at Tirzah is now In communication with an aeroplane association relative to having one plane and possibly two come to Tirzah oh picnic day for the benefit of Yofk county people who would like to go up in the air. The York-Cherokee annex commission appointed by Governor Cooper to make a survey of a section north west of King's Mountain.huttleground which would annex itself to Cherokee county has completed hs work and submitted Its final report to Governor Cooper, who is expected to order an election within a few days. About two sqare miles of York county territory is involved. The commission which held a meeting Thursday consists of W. W. Lewis and J. L?. McGUl for York county and D. W. Y., who lost her husband by death, sent the following communication to an Otsego county newspaper: "Mr. Editor: I desire to thank the friends and neighbors most heartily, in this manner,'for the united aid and cooperation during the illness and death of my late husband, who escaped from me by the hand of death on Friday last while eating breukfast. Rock Hill Record. The Record .carries a cord announcing W. R. Bradford ,of Fort Mill as a candidate for reelection to the lower house of the General Assembly, and The Record heartily endorses Mr. Bradford to the voters of York county. There is no doubt in the world but that Mr. Bradford has been a very valuable man in the General Assembly, where he stands very high. He is chairman of the ways and means committee, which handles all the appropriation bills. He is also a member of the canal commission, of the sinking fund commission, of the budget committee, of the Joint committee on printing, of the committee on expenditures of the general contingent fund, and is chairman of the good roads committee, Mr. Bradford has more than made good and he should he returned to the house without oposition.
