Winnipeg, Man., Oct. 8.?Harold Mackubbic, a farmer at lx>dyminister, Sask., li is a remarkable barn. When building the structure several years ago he was short of money ant' timber was scarce. He used green willow posts for the co.rner posts and sides, setting theju into the ground in a vertical position. The foil-owing season he found that the posts had rooted and were growing rupickly. That fall the floor of the barn, which before had been on the ground, was three feet a ho the ground level. A year ago tV: barn was on stilts nine feet high and the owner placed another story underneath to conserve the space and make entrance easier, making the original one-story barn ? mu-mory structure. The lower floor is now two feet from the grcund, the willows are growing rapidly and farmer looks forward to the time when he can put on the third floor. 0 HLEASE'S AMBITION. Says His Father Told Him He Wanted Him to Be Governor. Intends to I>o His Best. Charleston. Oct. 6.?In a speech to the German Society here to-night, Governor-Elect Cole L. Blease concluded with the following statement: Mr. Blease said that he expected to be the Governor of all the people, "and expected to see every section of South Carolina receive the same treatment. Years ago his father said that he wanted him to be Governor of South Carolina. This put ambition In his heart, and by his father's death bed he promised to make every effort to become the State's Chief Executive. Mr. Blease said that when he rakes nffien tie will have reached the zenith of his ambition. It will then be his chief aifn to receive the plaudits of "well done" from his fellow citizens at the close of his term. Notice is hereby given that the t*x books for Dillon county will be open for the collection of taxes from Oct. 15th, 1910 to March 15th, 1911. The following penalties will be added: January, one per cent., February, two per cent, March, seven per cent. All persons between the ages of 21 and 60, except Confederate soldiers and those otherwise exempt by law are liable for poll tax. The commutation of two dollars (2.00) can be paid till March 1st, 1911. All persons between the ages of 21 and 65 are liable. The state, county and 3 mile con stituttonal is 13 3-4.
