Evans, of Florence, is in Columbia in the interest of a state wide campaign for free milk for starv lag Italian babies. Miss Evans states that there are hundreds of babies dy ing in Italy for the want of milk. tln j condition brought abou: by the fact that the cattle qf that country yore used for army food during the war and the Germans, poisoned the goats and there is no milk. No drive is to be waged in the state, but funds will he received by a state leader and these will be for warded to the Amercm Free Milk and. Relief for Italy committee in New York. This committee does not spend any of the money contributed for salaries, says Miss Evans. The over head expenses average only four per cent, and these are paid by separate contributions made for the special purpose. Ail of the money contributed for the milk goes direct to Italy. The ItaPan Red Cross distributes it. The Italian government furnishes the transportation. Miss Evans is heading up the plans for tills work in South C arolina. She handled the work of the Belgian re lief during the war.—Columbia Record Raicins. The word raisin is generally used •to refer to the dried grape.
