Timmonsville, May 12^-3. J. Cana
way, a gallant Confederate veteran,
passed aw«;y at the home of his dau
ghter. Mrs. J. T. Wilder. Mr. Car-
raway was 73 years of age and had
been, in failing health for several
months. He was a lifelong member
of the Presbyterian church and u
man of splendid Christian character
rich in the possession of many sin
ceie friends. He is survived by the
following sons and daughters: G. F
Carraway of Sardis, J H Carraway of
Olanta, C M Carraway of Charles
ton, Reuben Carraway of Mullins,
Mrs. W. B. Goodman and Mrs. J T
Wilder of Timmonsville and Miss Ida
Rush of Olanta.
The funeral services and interment
took place in Olanta, Mr. Carraway’s
old home. The services were con
ducted by the Presbyterian pastor,
assisted hy the Rev J H Gaines of
the Baptist church and the Rev Roy
Phillips of the Methodist church of
rtinmonsvlllo.
CORRECTION
Through clerical error (he name of
Mr. W. A. Beaty, Jr., was omitted in
the list of (he members of the Cham
ber of Commerce, published yester
day afternoon in the Florence Dwily
Times. Mr. Beaty was one of the
Hist (o join the reorganized asso
ciation, and already has become one
of .the active members.
