Com munications ,are being received from i all over the state and even as far as New York in regard to this festive occasion. It is rumored that one of them is coming by aerial route—the highest state in which royalty can travel these days. “Miss South Carolina” of Columbia writes that she can hardly wait to assume her ‘‘queenly duties*' and that all her friends are excited over the coming event. The governor of North Caro lina has anointed “Miss North Caro llna” to represent that fine old Tar Heel state and render homage to her sister Palmetto queen. Miss Elise Smith of MaVion will have the dis tinction of being hpstess to all the visiting queens. She is, one of the most popular and attractive young la dies in Maripn and will perform her quednly functions with grace and dig nity. Limited space will not permit the enumeration of the various at tractions that *will taxe place, but among them will be the float parade, the floats being decorated with flow ers'. Evans and Ravenell Streets. • After an illness of a month, Mr. Marion Skinner died Wednesday af ternoon. He was the youngest son ot Mr. and Mrs. W. J. W. Skinnei, and was a young man of splendid characted. He served five mouths on the firing line as Sergeant-Major and when the armistice was signed he was assigned to duty at Brest. While in service he suffered a se vere attack of ga& which 1 it is claim ed was indirectly the cause of his un timely death. After his return from France he was employed as book keeper Tor the Florence Hardware Co., where he made many friends. Besides a father and mother he Is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Messrs J, S. Skinner of Grove Town, Ga., H. M., H. L. and S E Skinner of Bishopville; A. E„ B. F. and T! A. B. SWnner of Flor ence; W. E. Skinner of Michigan and the two sisters. Mrs'. H. B. Best, Vienna, Ga.. and Mrs. M. D. Wood, of P.iBhopville. The remains were taken to He bron Methodist church near Stokes Bridge where interment wiy* made at 3.30 Thursday afternoon. Says “Flower Shop” Made Great ’Hit Prof. M. M. Wilkes, Superintendent of the Timmonsville graded schools spent the morning in the city. Prof. Wilkes spoke in terms of highest praise of “The Flower Shop” which was presented in Timmonsville.
