Merle, of San Francisco, a playwrighz and a Knights of Columbus secretary who was attached to the 2<lh Aero squad ron for four months during the fight ing at Chaf.eau Thierry, Saint Miehiel and tiie Meuse Argonne district. Mr Merle has received an official communication from the officers and men of the 21.h Aero Squadron as notification that he has been given therighi to wear the squadron insig ilia.
