The Meeting L>a*t Night.
Pursuant to a notice published, 4
large crowd of prominent citizens
met in the city hall last night. The
meeting was called to order by
Mayor W. II. Day, who stated the
object of the meeting in a few re
marks. At the request of the
Mayor. T I. L. Darr read the cir
cular letter calling for the organi
zation of the National Volunteer
Deserves.
On motion of Dr. F. II. McLeod,
a committee of five was apjointed
to attend to the enrollment of
names. The foil awing gentlemen
constituted the committee: W.
H. Day, chairman, F. H. McLeod,
L. H. Meares, W. H. Malloy and
J. J. Brown.
There was some little discussion
on the powers of the committee.
Capt. Day read a very interest
ing circular showing a necessity
for the volunteer Reserves, and
showing the strength of the United
States compared with other nations.
R. C. Gregg suggested that some
of the prominent citizens he invited
to address the meeting. This sug
gestion was carried into effect by
calls for different ones. Short ad
dresses were made by P. A. Willcox,
A. A. Cohen, H. M. Brunson, J. F.
Stackley, W. It. Barringer and
others, Mr. A. A. Cohen’s speech
seemed to voice the sentiment of
the meeting, although every one
present thought that something
should be done to show up Florence
in the field. There was an effort
made to get up a volunteer com
pany, but that did not materialize.

A startlin? incident, of which
Mr.jJohn Oliver of Philadelphia,
was the subject, is narrated by
him as follows: “I was in a most
dreadful condition. My skin was
almost yellow, even sunken, tongue
coated, pain continually in back
and sides, no appetite—gradually
growing weaker day by day. Three
physicians had given me up. For*
Innately, a friend advised trying

gieat joy and surprise, the first
bottle made a decided improve
ment I continued their use for
three weeks, and am now a well
man I know they saved my life,

A Noted Atlautn Case.
For four years I have been af
flicted with a very troublesome
nasal catarrh. So terrible has its
nature been that when I blew my
nose small pieces of hone would
frequently come out of my mouth
and nose. The discharge was
copious, and at times very olTen-’
sive. Mv blood became so impure
that my general health was greatly
impaired, with poor appetite and
worse digestion. Numerous med
icines were used without relief,
until I began the use of Botanic
Blood Balm—B. B. B.—and three
bottles acted almost like magic.
Since its use, over a year, not a
symptom has returned, and I feel
in every way quite restored in
health. I am an old citizen of
Atlanta, and refer to almost any
one living on Butler street, and
more particular to Dr. L. M. Gil*
lam, who knows my case.
