The Weather Indications. FA I It to-mornnc- The Weather Bu reau forecasts for th is section are a* follows: Fair to-nu/ht and Wanner. Verily the colleges of our State are taking stronger hold upon the people. This is one of the hope ful signs of the times- The reign of the constables ends to-day, and the towns have the enforcement of the dispensary law entirely in their hands. Ws hope for much. It would please us beyond measure to see a lyhole* rrTrctiM'bfmrrtf^rr Gambling deadens the sensibili ties, undermine? the moral oature, dries up the soul. At contempla tion of such awful results it is strange that meu with eyes wide open indulge in the morally de grading and soul-deadening pas time. Discouraging reports come from the yellow fever infected districts to-day. New Orleans gives an in crease of twenty-live in the num ber of cas«s and Edwarde, Miss., hae been swept by the disease. While the death rate is small, sGll the disease is spreading, and there is good reason for every town in the South to use precau tionary measures. A man is a fool to disregard even a possible danger. Charleston now hae her own po lice force, and liberty smiles once more in the old city by the sea. Commenting upon the new order of things tbe News and Courier says: ‘•The best way for the new city police force to win the confidence of the public is to enforce the laws. Close the blind tigers, catch the burglars, drive out the tramps, lock up the vagrants, raid the policy shops, shut up the gambling hells.” Recognizing the change of place, circumstances and conditions, we commend this to our police force. There is much work for them to do. Mntlr Pupils, Miss Nettie Evans desires music pupils. Diploma from Professor Hahr, of Sweedeu, a pupil of Liszt. Sept. 29. Iw D. For Hale.
