The constabulary has been ordered abolished, and on October 1, the otlice of dispensary constable will not exist in South Carolina. Also on the same date there will be no policemen under the metropolitan system in Char leston. 1 This will be acceptable news to the vast majority of people in South Carolina. The whole State will re joice with Charleston in that her liberty has been restored, and Charleston along w-ith the whole State will view with satisfaction the placing of responsibility for the enforcement of the dispensary law where it properly belongs, that is, upon the towns. Governor Ellerbe has done well, and we confidently predict that time will prove the wisdom of his action. lev or call on the undersigned. March 2G-tf Chas. Cole.
