B- McGirc, a prominent den tist of this section, d'ed thismorn- ing about 7 o’clock, after an ill ness of two or three months. Dr. McGirt was much beloved in this community, and the people of the town feel' his death very much. He was 43 years old at the time of his death. This morning the Court resumed work on the case of the State vs. Gadi Goude and Caldwell Al ford, assault and battery with in tent to kill, and it was after 12 o’clock before the end came. The jury’s verdict was guilty with :e- commeudation to mercy. Work was then begun on the State vs. John Matthews, burglary and larceny, and at this hour (4 o’clock) a verdict has not been rendered. - -—-—, The General Elecfionv Tuesday, October 12, is the date of the election for Congressman &ud Judge of Probate, and for these offices respectively the can didates are James Norton and J. P. MiNeill. In this week’s Times- Mkssengeh the election notice, with names of precincts and man agers, is published and as in regu lar general elections the voter will be required to exhibit his registra tion certificate aod tax receipt. The polls will open at 7 a. m. and close at 4 p. m. A Probable Change. It is rumored that the Atlantic Coast Line will remove the dis patcher’s office to Florence and consolidate the two offices.
