The “o. p” men will now proceed to enjoin the rail roads. So much space in a newspaper is one of the best investments for a merchant. About that there is, and can be, no question. Experi ence has demonstrated it, and ex perience does not err. If the whole tribe of borrowers and bummers could be extermi nated, the circulation of the Daily Times would be doubled. As it Is, The Times is read by no fewer than 1,000 people, and is a splen did advertising medium for the merchants of Florence. Reports come to us that gamb ling is going on in our midst, that there are places in our town where this demoralizing pastime can be indulged in day in and day out. Now if this be true, we have one or two questions to ask. What is the matter with the city authori. ties? Why don’t they act? Why in the name of all that is lawful, pure and morally upright do they not attempt to eradicate this evil? The Daily Times has noted with satisfaction the large eales of tobacco during the past few weeks. Tobacco has come from neighbor ing counties, to say nothing of that produced at home, and the sellers have gone to their homes pleased with the prices and with Florence as a market.
