Camp 435, Augusta, Ga., a resolution was adopted inviting your camp or the delegates therefrom to unite with us on our trip to Nashville. We will leave Augusta via Georgia railroad about 3.30 p. m. Jane 21st, and will arrive in Nashville at 7.30 a. m. June 22nd. Please let me hear from you that we miy notify the railroad as to cars.” The above invitation was sent by Adjutant G. W. Lloyd. > .OaTglflc Hail The Clanssen and Howe neigh borhoods were visited by a terrific hail storm last Saturday afternoon about 3 30 o’clock. The hail in some places was as large as guinea eggs. Considerable damage was done to the cotton crop. A ten acre field belonging to Mr. A. Meyerkort in the Howo section was stripped to the ground. The crop of Mr. T. C. Crawford in the Clanssen section was also very badly damaged. Important Meeting. Ellison Capers chapter, Daugh ters of the Confederacy, will meet at the residence of Mrs. T. H. Long on a Caban filibustering expedition. The facts were ob tained from a member of the crew of the Alexander Jones, which re turned to port several days ago. His story substantially is as fol lows : On Thursday night, May 13, the Jones took on a cargo of rifles, machetes, rapid fire guns and am munition at the wharf of the Wil mington, Newbern and Norfolk railroad in the southern limits of the city. Before she had entirely finished taking on her cargo a re port was started that officers were approaching and that the revenue cutter Morrill was getting up steam. Taking alarm, the Jones pulled oat and started down the river at 10:45 p. m., and in a few hoars crossed the bar and anchored ontside. The Long having mean while been loaded with coal and other material at the Wilmington and Weldon railroad wharf, was shorly afterwards towed out to sea by the tug Jacob Brandon, going past the revenue cutter Colfax.
