Charles Jarrot has returned from the Atlanta exposition. Machinist Joe Freeland left yes terday morning for Atlanta. Mrs. Annie and Miss Lottie Justice left this morning for Way- cross. The streets are crowded to-day with people getting their Christ mas gifts. Blacksmith John (iilberson left for his home in Washington, I). C. Saturday. Engineer Wakefield, who lost his •itnation several months ago has been reinstated. R®t. R. W. Barnwell is in the city to officiate at the funeral of Mr. M. L. A. Gardner. . Dr. Robert Pierce and A. J. Howard, of Claussens, have re turned from Atlanta. There are measles in Florence, in the family of J. L. Nealy. They have the piazza placarded to 0 that effect. Engineer Jepson, who has been on a freight run for several years has a passenger run between Charleston and Wilmington. The regular meeting of the board of directors of the Florence Loan.and Investment company, will be held this evening at 7.30. About thirty cases of measles reported at Winthrop by some f^b.e students. They are greatly disappointed to stay at Rock Hill,'while others are going home for the holidays. Died. Judge McClenaghan’s Court. State against Willie Dingle, com monly called Sonny Dingle, charged with petit larceny. He was sentenced to 30 days or pay the expenses and fine which would make it $11.50. Before the Mayor. Wilson Crawford was arrested for being drunk and disorderly and cursing on the corner of Ev ans and Church streets. He was fined £2 or 3 days in the guard house. He could not pay the fine. MARION NOTES. What Mr. M. L. A. Gardner passed away yesterday morning at 9.30 mfter a short illness, and will be buriedfrom the Episcopal church at 3 p. m. to-day. We will not attempt for fear of prejudicing the case, to give the circumstances connected with the affair, as, of course, each side has a tale of its own. We hear of a number ot people who will come to town to spend Xmas Everybody seems to be expecting a pleasant time. All of our college boys and girls will be home on Saturday. We know several hearts here that will be made glad besides their respective parents. A young people’s meeting was held at the Baptist church last Sunday night. It was conducted by Mr. Sam Reaves, assisted by F. H. Wardlaw and Lanean Lide. The talks rpade by these two young men were very creditable to them.
