This pest is most injurious along the line from Barnvell to Marlboro County. Wherever these insects attack cotton that las been chopped to .a stand the value | , )f rapid thorough cultivation cannot > >e over estimated. Summer Weather Main Factor. "The fact that the boll weevil passed he winter in great numbers and may v >e expected in cotton fields at this ime in unusual abundance, does not lecess^rily mean great damage to the < /' 1 otton crop. Situations like this have , ccurred before in the history of the reevil in this country, where they :ame out of winter.-quarters early and , n great numbers, causing a panicky .ondition among the farmers.
