Before u man's opinion about how the county keeps up Its property could have much weight with us, we'd ||jre\ have to know something about how he keeps up his own premises; if they were "splc and si an" and the roads leading to and from his housewere clear of roots. logB. tree tops, etc., and we saw some signs of shoveling about the washes and mud holes, we'd stiy he had room to talk. If boys get Into trouble following In their daddy's footsteps, who ought to have to bear the punishment? Tes, we think so, too. .We hover could see the justice of punishing the small offender and letting the major onee go free. Can you? Which reminds us. We heard the other day that one of our ecrenninl "also fans" said he 'bought he should stay out of politics hereafter, as we were going to have "them darn she-voters to reckon with." We ?"aint u-say4ng is we is, or is we aint" opposed to the she-voter, 'but we are saying that if the she-voter can run some people out of politics, we ought to have had them long dgo. There isn't a mother's son of us down here that will own up to daddying that .niece about the OrangeburgLexington road, so we have about decided it must be its "aunts little boy." If. they are going to indulge in a "mud-slinging" bou? it's a ve?*y favorable time, because that same road is full of mud now. Mrs. O. . Jefcoat spent last week-end with Mr. .las. K. A small admission fee.will be charged for the benefit of the school. Ice cream and refreshments will be served by the Ladies School Improvement Association. Tho Pellon school is one of the most promising schools of the county. Under the able leadership of Prof. Olenn Parrott and his assistants, much good work is being done. Pelion bide inn uc u. recosmzfu ni^n scnou' in the neur future. This section oi the county needs a high school. It would be a great step forward If this could be made a centralized high school with two or more of the surrounding districts cooperating. The people of community are bound to catch step. Now is the time to lay plans for another year. Think it over and let's do something for our girls and boys. The centralized idea is working in other parts of the State and will work here. WHY NOT A COMMUNITY ROOM FOR TjKXINOTON? Is there anyone in Lexington yet to be convinced of the urgent neec of a community room in our town? A room in which every person would have an interest. A room that would not resemble in the least a public hall, but a room in any charming, commodious home where everyone would have the privilege of entertaining?where club meetings, Sunday school parties, church suppers, committee meetings, dances and plays could be held. A room with a homelike atmosphere where our 'young people' could gather for wholesome recreation tuui amusement. Is there a more essential need in Lexington than such a community center Could any other investment be of more benefit or give more infinite pleasure to people of our community? "Would not our State?and even our nation-'-be better and richer if every community would interest itself in providing proper environment for the social activities of its young people? Can,. Lexington afford to sit idle and allow this opportunity to go by unheeded? CARD -OirTHANKS.
