[ WITH THE METHODIST CONFERENCE NOW IN SESSION Rev. H. A. Whitten, pastor of the Lc-xington circuit, left yesterday for Lancaster, where he will attend the annual session of the Upper South Carolina Conference. Among the laymen attending from , this section are Messrs. T. H. Shull, W. G. Smith of Gilbert and L.* O. Rast-of Swansea. Five days are generally allotted for the business of an annual conference, although ;?iodern efficiency is speed' ing things up, cutting out some of the preaching and dispatching the business in short order. The evening before conference is officially launched, the opening sermon is preached. ; Sometimes this sermon marks the semi-centennial of one of the older members, and when this is the case it is apt to be a weepy occasion, punctuated by frequent and fervid Amens. The object of chief interest at this session of the conference will be the election of delegats. an eqiial number of laymen and preachers, to the general conference, which meets at Hot Springs, Ark.,- next May. This is the Jaw making body of the church. LEXINGTON CIRCUIT Appointments for Sunday, November 6th, 1921. j Sunday school at each church at 10 a. m.
